Re: Need a pontoon repair guy in SW FL

I see your boat in your signature. Doesn't Bennington have a " lifetime" warranty on the Hull? Something doesn't seem right to me if you're having several issues with leaks. It's easy to pressure test on your own. A trip to the local hardware store and they can have you hooked up easily. Most impor...

Need a pontoon repair guy in SW FL

Pontoon has a pinhole leak somewhere. It apparently is so small that it’s not showing up on a pressure test. Had the boat in the water all day yesterday. Took it back to the storage lot and noticed an unusual amount of water coming off one of the toons. Went back this morning to check and sure enoug...

Re: Vinyl wraps

Any word on how well the vinyl wraps hold up on Florida Gulf of Mexico salt, sun, etc.? Have been thinking about wrapping my Bennington.

Re: Marine 31 Mildew

Once you've cleaned your seats, give them a light coating of mineral oil to rejuvenate the vinyl. Wipe it on with a soft cloth, then wipe the excess off. After that apply 303 for the UV protection.

Re: vinyl seats care

Saltwater boater here. Everything gets hosed down with fresh water after each outing. One a month the boat gets the spa treatment where it gets completely washed and vinyl seats get treated with a coat of mineral oil.

Playpen cover gets put on every time we're done with it.

Re: Mag or Alum Anode

Kicking an old thread because I have a question. I moved from saltwater to brackish water about 4 years ago. I always had zinc anodes on the boat as it was kept in a wet slip the whole time - both when in saltwater (old home) and in brackish water (new home). Wasn't smart enough to figure out that I...

Re: Can you beach our boats on sandy or small gravel beaches?

I used to do it frequently with my boat - which is bottom-painted. After wearing of the bottom-paint the first time, I don't do it anymore. I'll leave the boat in 2-3' of water. If people want to go on the beach they can walk.

Re: Tools to keep on board? And lots of other newbie questions

1. A tool to remove a water/fuel separator filter (oil filter wrench works fine). If you get water in your gas, you'll need to remove this in order to remove the water from the gas. (Ask me about my 7 hour tow home one night because I didn't have one :x ) 2. A multi-tool. I have a Leatherman Surge t...

Re: New single outboard record at LOTO Shootout

They can have the speed, most of the fun of a toon can be had at a full stop It's all according to what you want. About 10 years ago my wife and I got caught in a severe thunderstorm in our old 20' Harris Pontoon with a top speed of 20mph. It was the first time I felt we might be in trouble boating...

Re: Anchor suggestions

I use a Fortress FX-11 on my 24' tritoon. We go out in the Gulf with it, so we're often dealing with some strong currents. This anchor digs in tighter than a tick. Very lightweight.
