Re: Propping Chart and information.

Pretty expensive proposition if you don't have a marina that lends props to try before buy.

Re: Propping Chart and information.

I just read this topic beginning to end and it raises a question: In the first posts there is much weight given to reducing prop slip, then several posts questioning if low slip is even possible on a pontoon that plows rather than planes. By the end there's no mention at all of prop slip. I've looke...

What's the problem with these new primer bulbs?

While on vacation after the 4th I replaced my fuel hose assembly with a new one from Attwood. Squeezing the bulb until my forearm hurt never built any pressure in the bulb. It sounded like the fuel was just shuttling back & forth through the rubber bulb. I returned it and got my $50 back and bought ...

Re: Portable tank users: how long is your fuel line?

So it appears the majority leaves it long. LOL

In other gas-powered pursuits it's normal to make the fuel line as short as possible. Isn't fuel vaporization a concern if the excess sun-soaked hose is just coiled up on the platform or in the pod?

Re: New seats?

I looked at reupholstering my old toon.
Looked at pontoonstuff & GreatLakesSkipper
Ended up buying a well-cared-for used boat for what I would have spent on the seats.

I realize I've only postponed the problem, but it works for me.

Portable tank users: how long is your fuel line?

I just had a holiday weekend annoyance: bad leak at tank connector had me sucking air & had to limp back to the dock. Had to run to town for an overpriced fuel line & bulb. Which was defective & wouldn't build pressure. Back to town to buy JUST the ends to repair my too-old hose, and that works. I'm...

Re: Bimini top issues

Does this boil down to the top frame is wider than your fence width? I've noticed when shopping bimini top frames there's a lot of manufacturers with a "one size fits all" mentality where frames are formed wide enough to fit a 8.5' wide deck and to mount to a 8' deck you just flex the frame & stuff ...

Re: How many dock lines?

Hmmm...I never considered tying to one of the rings on the far side of the boat. I'll give that a try & see if that gives me more control. Can't see it in the photo but there is a 3rd line I use at the last pole. It's wrapped loose and is really there for redundancy since I live 200 miles away & can...

Re: Adjustable steering friction

old steering friction knob... So this is an obsolete feature? I thought it made sense to have it and certainly couldn't add more than a dollar to include it. Previous 'toon had a Mariner (Yamaha) 40 that apparently is known for having a rough idle. No matter the trim setting it would wiggle the whe...

Adjustable steering friction

Isn't it normal to be able to adjust the friction in the steering so the boat stays straight if you take your hands off the wheel? My previous 'toon had a screw on the collar behind the steering wheel for adjusting friction. The (newer) boat I have now doesn't. Is this simple but important adjustmen...

Re: How many dock lines?

Cleats? My boat & aluminum dock have none & I've never seen any on any of my neighbor's docks, either. Funny how in a "lake community" you often see the same brands of boats, trailers, and see everybody doing everything the same way. I just throw a hooped line from each corner of the boat over 2 of ...

Re: How many dock lines?

So many different docks, so let's talk about inventory of dock lines. I have at least 4 @ 8ft for cleats and 3 @ 25 ft for spring line from pilings. I've also got a 60 ft hank of floating 1/2 inch for throwing. I think a couple of proper spring lines work best to keep you in position. No matter how...

Re: How many of us are running a dual battery setup?

Last year I pulled my 2nd battery to save weight. Never had an issue but the idea of trying to get home using a canoe paddle isn't very appealing so this year it went back in. I have a Perko 1/2 switch and (hopefully) #2 will never be needed. My question is this: If a marine starting battery is full...

How many dock lines?

I'd like to add this question to the "How many fenders?" topic.

I can't seem to get a satisfactory handle on the placement & quantity of my dock lines. They either allow the boat to pull too far away from the dock, or are a tripping hazard if located near the door, or...
