Re: "Instant" transducer mount. Flex Glue?

I notice there's a Fast-cure Marine version of 5200. I might try that. Or I might try an epoxy putty. That PC-7 epoxy has been holding golfballs to pop bottles for decades in hardware stores. Hard to beat that track record!

Re: "Instant" transducer mount. Flex Glue?

Google "Flex Glue" to find reviews (good & bad), videos, commercials, and lots of comments that infomercials typically attract.

The bad reviews seem to be mostly about curing time. There aren't many who disagree with the claim that the glue is press-and-done instant stick.

Bamby I assume the double-post was due to your first post not showing up right away like it used to. That happened to me as well. When you post a reply the topic doesn't automatically refresh to show the addition. Manually refreshing the page will show the new post. I haven't found a work-around to ...

"Instant" transducer mount. Flex Glue?

I just switched my TV provider so I've been exposed to some newer infomercials. There's one that's a squeeze tube of paste adhesive that makes an instant bond, even underwater. My toon doesn't have brackets on the ends so last year I bought a transducer mounting base that comes with a slow-cure epox...

Looks like 3M gives a new color and new part number to every variation of scrubby they make. Thanks 3M!

Which Scotch Brite for de-scumming the toons?

I've read many toon cleaning & sealing discussions and i think i have more questions than ever. My boat stays in the lake all season & the toons have never been polished. Is it beyond hope after so many years? If i tackle this should i begin with a pressure washer? Which Scotch Brite pad? Or a seque...

Re: Ranger Reata and their powder coated toons

What needs 400 deg? I think the highest temp in anodizing is the boiling water final bath that "fixes" the color dip.
Does powdercoating require 400° bake?

Good point about the force needed to completely submerge a pontoon float--I never considered that.

Re: Ranger Reata and their powder coated toons

I think it would be cool to have toons color-matched to the trim or carpet. With anodizing it's permanent, tougher, and doesn't add any weight.

Re: Ranger Reata and their powder coated toons

Has anyone ever produced an anodized tube? I would think that would be better than any paint or coating for durability. For speed maybe not since it doesn't make the aluminum any smoother.

Anodizing would require large dip tanks but at least the process is cheap.

Re: Restoring "Loretta Jane"

Details on that Marine31? Spray & wipe or did you need to scrub (what with)?

I don't recall reading about that. Following other advice on this forum I've now got several bottles of 303 Protectant, Awesome Cleaner, Purple Power, Star Brite, and some mildew-killing house wash. LOL
