Re: New Boat Garage

I saw that you concreted the floor. Great! Any way to get a center drain in there now? Wonderful for washing the boat & other toys,

Re: Heading to Kentucky Lake
. I'm going to have to check out some of the other places you mention. We never ventured out of Johnathan creek while we were there this time.
Jonathan Creek huge. Don't have to leave it to have fun fishing, tubing, swimmng, etc. Plus, some nightlife nearby in Aurora, wit...

If you feel a need for speed, then get a couple of jet skis or a runabout.
That was the ticket for us! Waaaay fun!

Re: winterizing

I had the bubbler when I had a boat on Mississippi. In the back of the marina at HPYC, the water froze. Down here in KY, we're on main part of lake with deep water so no issues. TYJ!

Re: Do you really need a trailer?

We've had toon on KY Lake for 4 yrs. Our own dock. Who needs to go anywhere but here? Have a trailer. Used it once to haul boat out to add hydraulic steering. The guys doing the work could have hauled it for us. The trailer is PITA for storage. When we sell our boat, the new owner will be getting pr...

Re: winterizing

We're on KY Lake about 6 miles north of TN. Our toon is on a lift at the dock, engine down. If the water freezes where you are and you're not on a lift, you might consider throwing a bubbler into your slip to keep the water moving and not freezing. We also add a little Staybil to the gas tank. Can t...

Re: Preventing Mildew

+1 on Damp Rid. Boat under cover, on the lift, under the roof of our boat dock, good ventilation from lake wind. We also put Damp Rid in our Hobie Kayaks. They're closed systems and condensation can normally collect inside. No water in the kayaks when we open them up in the spring. The stuff works.

Re: Heading to Kentucky Lake

Just keep that quiet so it stays that way :biggrin2 Yes! We tell everybody from LOTO that the fishing sucks here, the wind blows your sailboat in circles, the barges are non-stop, and you can walk across the lake on all the boats that are here even during the week! We love it here especially after ...

Re: Heading to Kentucky Lake

One of the days we will likely go through the canal to Barkley, just to say we were there. Anything tricky about that? The canal is a piece of cake. No issues and fun to say you did two lakes in the same day, heck, in the same 10 minutes! Next trip, come down to MM 58-60. Lots of resorts, camping s...

Thanks, all! Will check out rating, thrust, etc. Am getting hydraulic steering installed in the meantime. More power on the way. Now if only the checkbook balance is as high as my enthusiasm... :prayer

Going from 60hp to 90hp- worth it?

Okay, we're finally going to get a bigger motor for our 21' Suntracker Fishin' Barge. With our 60hp Mercury Bigfoot, top speed is 17.5 mph at 5,000 RPMs. So we NEVER go more than 11 mph and that's at 3,800 rpms. No joy. Need your opinions- is 90hp going to provide any significant difference in boat ...

Re: Pest Control – Help Needed

Mothballs work great for inside the boat. Pace a bag in the storage areas. For the outside, it's gonna be tought to keep critters off. I put a windscreen above the boat in the slip to keep spider and bird shit off of the cover. Works great. Better then great. A windscreen? Can you post a pic? We ha...

Re: What do you all put on your seats.

303 great, and we have good air circulation as boat stays under cover, on the lift, all winter. The local boat place had some spray stuff to prevent mildew. We haven't needed it though.
