Re: Yamaha 225 vs 250-Sun Tracker vs Sun Catcher

I believe the G-3 Suncatcher, which is owned by Yamaha, is much better built than the BassPro Shops SunTracker. Can't help you with the motor Q.

Re: Underskinning Materials....

There are lots of posts, including my own, on this forum about underskinning. Also, Google it for more links. I agree with the .063, 5052 aluminum. You can order SS screws and/or structural rivets on-line. Far more selections and sheaper on-line than in the local big box stores. I used 3/16" Magnalo...

Re: let's talk under skinning

I used .063" 5052 aluminum. I wouldn't go any thinner. Search Underpinning on this forum and with Google for lots of info. I used 3/16" MagnaLoc aluminum large head structural rivets except for panels that I may want to remove for access. For those, I drilled and tapped for #8 SS screws with both SS...

Re: thinking about a third partial toon, no new transom

What speed are you getting with the Honda 135 and what prop are you running? I have the same engine on a 2005 Crest 25’ and have always wondered how it compares to similar boats

Re: Beware of Veranda brand of Toons.

If your state has a lemon law, maybe it will apply to boats. If it were me, I would insist that they buy it back at what I paid for it or we would go to court

Re: Fishfinder for old guy

I have the Hook 5 and am pleased with it.

Make sure that the one you buy includes the transducer, especially if the price seems to good to be true. Some models of Lowrance are offered with and without the transducer.

Re: Just a transom rebuild...

Many years ago I rebuilt the decking and transom in my bassboat in a similar manner but encased all wood in fiberglass cloth and resin. It's less likely to crack than an epoxy coating and adds some strength. The weak spots are any hole you drill into the finished pieces and the cut edges of the plyw...

Bunks Wrapped

My bunk carpet and boards had rotted from 5 years in the sun. I replaced them today with Caliber Bunk Wrap. The non-galvanized lag bolts had all rusted so I replaced them with 3/8" galvanized ones. Special ordered four 20' PT pine boards ($140 delivered. Ouch!) and 260 SS truss head #10x1-1/4" screw...

Re: Check Out My Custom Hydrohoist Floating Tritoon Boat Lift!

I've been wondering if a Hydrohoist would operate from a 12 volt battery and inverter with solar recharging. Plus, it would be less expensive than running power.

It looks like you did exactly what I was considering.

Is there a particular brand of solar panel, regulator and inverter that you used?

Re: Steering wheel replacement hunt

It looks like the logo on the right side says "Regency", which Is the Bass Pro Suntracker premium pontoon line. Regency's top boat is model 254 which is shown to the left of the steering wheel in your photo. One memorable feature of the boat would be powder coated matching tubes and railings.
