Re: New Sylvan leans 2" to starboard at rest & underway

Our Berkshire also sits a little lower on the starboard side, but I just figure it's because of the dual batteries which are under the starboard rear corner seat. Also on the Starboard side is the power steering hydraulic pump and hoses.

Re: Winterize Dilemma

Welcome back to SML !!!

I'd still use your boat through out the winter on nice days...... we have. I wouldn't change the lower unit oil until next fall with only 1 hour's use this year.

Enjoy it !

Re: Covering Back Deck

I too didn't like the idea of our boat hanging out of the covered boat slip by a foot or so, plus the engine..... SO I made a homemade skirt that keeps the paint, vinyl decking, hoses, etc from the elements. I hand sewed the silver ( tarp ) to fit exactly all the way around the back half of the boat...

Re: So, speaking of batteries and such

Yep.....

I've got 2 DEKA Marine Batteries. I've typically used battery 1 one day, and switch to battery 2 the next day, or if I know I won't be running it for awhile on the last day out, I'll run one, then at the half way point of the day, I'll switch over to the other battery.

Re: So, speaking of batteries and such

I have a ProMariner Pro Sports. I think my model is the Pro Sports 20...... I'm not near the boat so I can't check, but I'm pretty sure this is it. Works great, for my 2 batteries.

Re: sharkhide reviews?

Definitely DO IT. ...... but do it BEFORE the boat is delivered, or ever put in the water. Best option is to have it put on at the manufacturer as Bennington now does. I waited 2 years to put it on our Berkshire and had to acid wash it first. I've also helped my buddy mirror polish his 2013 Benningt...

Re: Where do you fill her up with gas? Cans, station or marina?

I gas up at the marina. We don't have a trailer, and I don't want to deal with hauling 5 gallon jugs down a bunch of stairs.

The marina I have always used is NON ethonol gas and has historically been the least expensive on our lake..... still quite a bit more than the local regular gas stations.

Re: Tired of doing 20 mph

We also have a Berkshire Tri Toon. Very Happy with it, and the Yamaha F200. Our model has the rear facing loungers on both sides, as most manufacturers offer one like that. Our model will take up to a 300, however, I did a fair amount of research to find what was the most bang for the buck, both fro...

Re: I need some awning/cover fabric...who has the widest width?

Sunbrella comes in 46" as well as 60" widths.

I've bought several times from these folks when I did my homemade skirt and needed material and all kinds of snaps, etc.

Re: Outfitting new tritoon

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new, pending boat !!! I prefer round fenders. I keep 4 on board and use 2 of them with Pontoon Rails Fender Adjusters that I bought online at Overton's as a 4 pack. You preset the length of line from each fender. The other 2 fenders I use and tie on to the f...

Re: How many of us are running a dual battery setup?

We factory ordered ours with the Dual Battery set up AND Switch. We also ordered the built in battery charger. I usually run the boat on one battery, then next time I start up, I run it on the other battery. That includes if we stop during the day somewhere, if I remember, I'll go and switch it over...

Re: Will acid washing pontoons leave a white finish?

I have had mine acid washed, and Sharkhided......

Definitely on the white side, NOT shiny. As stated above, you need to polish them. However, the whitish finish is clean, super clean. Gets rid of all the black, uneven splotchy look.

Re: best stuff to polish the toons out

Yes..... couldn't believe I did that the first day buffing. The rest of the time I had one on.

This was on my buddy's boat too....... as mine was Sharkhided about 2 years ago, I wanted to get the system down pat before going after mine next season..... LOL !!!
