Re: More prop talk :)

I would tend to leave well enough alone. Props are, in most cases, a compromise. If you go for top speed, then when you have a full load, your engine will struggle to teach top RPM. Yet go with a lower pitch to help get your revs up while carrying a heavy load and when light, you hit your rev limite...

Re: Is It Possible to Shorten Height of Bimini Top?

I hear you Steiner, but it seems that unless the front and rear top bows are cut to make them lower (shorter) nothing changes as far as the height of the top. Tell me what I’m missing in your write-up.

Re: Is It Possible to Shorten Height of Bimini Top?

I also have a Sweetwater very similar to KPC above. In looking at the photo, I can’t see where I could cut the forward legs and then reattach them to the aft pair. And if I cut only the aft pair, I would only gain a very small degree of lowering. Anyone ever do something like this or know a pretty s...

Re: Prop slop

Well, at least you won’t be needing a torch to get the prop off. On a previous boat I owned, which was used exclusively in brackish water, the original owner told me he always left the prop loose enough to provide just a bit of play so it wouldn’t freeze up on the shaft. I continued to keep it adjus...

Best wishes with your new girl. If you don’t mind, what part of the lake will you be on mostly. I’m on the Thompson Creek area.

Re: Sun Tracker 18DLX Party Barge and Lake Lanier in GA

I keep my boat on Lanier on the upper lake, but I have been on the lower lake many times. I can think of no reason a 20 ft. pontoon would not work just fine. That’s what I have and it serves me well. But like any boat, use your common sense and you will likely stay out of trouble. Sure, I would love...

Re: Buying a standalone trailer?

Well, as for it won’t fit your pontoon, I’ve not seen one that is not adjustable to fit different pontoons. You may have two issues to deal with if you buy a trailer before getting the toon. First, if you have a pontoon trailer and a tri-toon comes along you’re pretty much screwed. It will fit but w...

Don’t forget under skinning. It will help you pick up a bit of speed.

Contradiction in Terms

I’m not trying to get into an argument with anyone, but there is something I can’t get my head around So, I read on other boating boards how much better a catamaran boat rides VS a monohull. Good. I have no experience with cats, but that is the general consensus. Now, on this board I read where tri-...

Bansil, you just gave all the liberals that sneak a peek here a heart attack. Keep up the good work my friend. And to you Mr. Foghorn, please take your posts and all of your bullshit over to the Wooden Boat Forum. They will love you over there like a brother.

Re: Where do you mount your rear view mirrors?

OBH, I bought the same one but w/o the stick-on base. I just use the suction cup to mount. It is slightly convex so the field of view is a bit wider than usual. It is also tinted. Works pretty well for me.

Re: Any such thing as "too much shifting"?

It’s possible that the prop guard you are referring to gives your prop something of a Cort Nozzle feature. Look it up if need be.

Re: Any such thing as "too much shifting"?

It hurts it a lot less than crashing into a dock would hurt it.
But seriously, no. I think your delay in neutral is a smart thing to do. And remember the old adage “Never approach something any faster than you are willing to hit it!”

Re: Brand new Pontoon hard steering

There’s a product that was called a widget that replaced the nut and it had a grease fitting on it to get grease in there. Other styles had a removable cap and you remove the cap and agg a bit of light oil and replace the cap. One shot of grease Avery few trips and no more problems. They are availab...

If it flys, floats, or _ _ _ _s, you’re gonna have trouble with it.
