Definitely the salt water version for salt use... Don't know about your situation with current and wind but I would think with normal Conditions ?? The 80 would be a reasonable place to start but I have seen in some parts of the states some pretty tough currents on salt water. Do lots of research , ...

Might as well start looking at chargers too. I went with 2 onboard chargers instead of one big one for my 3 batteries.. It just seemed to be easier than trying to find one big space for one big charger given my limited storage.

Maybe not keeping in the spirit of the thread but I've never heard of an 80lb 12 volt trolling motor. I think about 55lb is as high as you can go on 12 volt. As far as the original question. Yeah, I think 80lb would do well , maybe not so much in high wind but then who's out there anyway? A 68 lb do...

5-6 ?? But I would think that would be under most normal conditions. If you want to fight a flood coming back I think you should have checked the weather first.

If you don't want the expense of a trolling motor , I would think a a smart phone would be the next best choice. We use our 18' pontoon for fishing and I'm equipped with a a 68lb troll motor with 2 deep cycle group 27 batteries. I would think I could get at least 5 miles at 3-4 miles per hr if neede...

Yep, It's all very simple with pontoons. Big tritoons with big power go fast, two toon boats with moderate to low power go slow.
