Welcome to the group!
I think the best thing with a rebuild is having a blank slate and making it all yours! We had a ball rebuilding ours. Have fun with it!

Hey, ambtn723 - First, Welcome to the group! You'll find a wealth of experience here to help with questions and advice. I can't necessarily speak to your cost/ value questions except to offer this thought or 2: What was the $4K invested by your MIL used for? When you say the shop wants $2400, I unde...

Re: Underskinning outside the outer toons

I can't offer an opinion because my 20-year-old pontoon boat is not under skinned and the wood appears to be rock solid where I can see it. Marc Agree with Marc. My 17 year old was untouched on the lift for many years (before I owned it). When we rebuilt this year, the decking was still in really g...

Re: Are pontoons generally filled with air or are they empty?

Every once in a while I hear what sounds like a faint "thunk", but not often and not concerning. I was told, somewhere in this galaxy, that my model Landau (2003) has styrofoam-filled toons. Makes sense because I do ride so very smoothly - in that - I never feel like I'm bouncing across the waves, j...

Re: Where do you mount your rear view mirrors?

I guess I'm a bit different. I have never had or used a mirror, so I just take a bit of a turn in my chair and glance back periodically. It's not even a conscious thought. I suppose anyone coming up behind me has to make the adjustment anyway, so let them move if I don't see them first.

....episode lasted 30 minutes.. ......another episode just like that 10 days later ......light headed spells everyday, 5 or 6 times a day for nearly a month. Finally in Jan . I went to my doc. So glad you're OK. Now -- this is where a buddy of mine would say, "You dumbass, what the hell did you wai...

Re: 1988 Lowe shakedown cruise

Congrats on the shakedown! I remember that feeling of relief when you get it back in and nothing seems to be wet that shouldn't be! Figuring you're about halfway through your season (in NY), maybe enjoy the hell out of it this year and decide if you truly want a newer boat, or maybe just a bit more ...

Re: Hi from Western NY

Hey, John. Welcome to the forum officially. We went with the same thought when we bought our toon - clean it up enough to use for one season, then rebuild. We were fortunate enough to get it really clean, and got 2 years out of it before pulling the trigger this year. With the right products and a b...

Re: Brand new Pontoon hard steering

Every year I pull the nut on right side of engine, turn motor to expose cable. I fill it with lithium grease. After 16 years it turns with a finger I had heard of this when mine seemed a bit stiff. The rod was not as lubed as I thought it should be - there was some grease but not a lot. Seems to ha...

Re: How has COVID changed your boating habits?

Roland, Hope you two are doing OK! On very hot days, we mostly stay under the bimini top and get wet every now and then to stay cool. Echo Marc's hope that you guys are doing OK, Roland. We are either floating in the chair (beer in hand), or sitting under the biminis smiling (beer in hand)! -Paul
