Re: Impressed

After I get the new one on I may see if I can get the 6ft old one to fit the front and go ahead and replace the zippers. My wife replaced the zippers on ours. She ordered the large nylon zippers for not much $. Now, she's pretty handy with a sewing machine, but she says anyone with a heavy-duty eno...

Re: Thinking about two tops

I have a double bimini on mine that zips together. The older I get, I can't take the sun like I once could. A bunch of little skin cancers later, I want the shade! Some trips we use only one (for me at the helm); most trips are usually both because we anchor and spend most of the time in the water. ...

Re: Manual anchoring set ups for bow of pontoons

Gotta agree with Steve... A fluke is probably your best choice. I have a 24' and boat on the intracoastal. Always a fairly moving current. The fluke holds with no problem. For my stability in these currents, I use a fluke front & back. The key is having the lead chain and dropping your anchor out fa...

Re: Repowering

Hey, JP. I have a 75 Merc on my 24' Landau. No strakes, no underskinning. I usually can ease along at about 18 gps. That's often with 4-6 people and all the other needs - coolers, junk, etc.. I agree with the others who feel that a 115 should certainly be enough to keep you around 20-couple mph with...

Re: Hydraulic steering help needed

Is the steering wheel taper pretty much universal? I don't know that answer. I THINK it is. Mine was old helm off/new helm on... same wheel so no issue. The helm shaft seems pretty standard. I hear you on the anxiousness. I look at mine hanging in the lift every day. We've had a day here & th...

Re: Hydraulic steering help needed

This video gave me a good understanding. The guy is boring and talks too damn much  , and it's not a pontoon, but it will really help with learning the process.

Re: Hydraulic steering help needed

My current cable is twice as long as it needs to be and it is hard to steer because of all the bends in it. When I went through the problem and replacement of mine, the two techs I spoke with were adamant that the cable needed to be no more than 1' longer than needed. I think you would be fine with...

Re: Great Weekend

Great pics. Ain't it great that we live where we can boat all year round !! Know it gets cooler in the panhandle as lived around Carrabelle for bit but still beats the latitudes further north. Life is too short to be inside looking at snow and cold when you could be chasing dolphins and drinking a ...

Re: forum administrators

okay, the problem has to have something to do with the pictures themself. I grabbed an old pic of one of my cars and it loaded fine... then tried to post a pic I took of my boat the other day, and it won't post... and it is actually smaller than the pic of my car that did post. Pic that didn't post...
