You might find this short video very informative. May save you some money as well. However, I do use stabil or something similar if storing gas for a few months.

Re: Using the dog as bait!

A company called Doberman makes motion sensor alarms that squeal pretty loud. You can just set them about anywhere. If something comes by its going to scream.
I always put one in my boat when I have to leave it somewhere. Get on my boat and it goes off when they walk in front of it.

Re: Pontoon replacement

I am not sure where premier makes there logs but at that shipping price, it might be worth a long weekend road trip to go pick them up with your boat trailer.

Re: Can a hair line crack in a toon be repaired????

Short answer yes, you can weld cracks and holes with great success. Your toons are 36 years old, that should not be an issue. Airplanes fly for many more years than that and they are aluminum. However, you must have some stress issues going on. So I would think a good competent welder could clean th...

Re: Water seperator

FWIW, I wanted my dealer to add one to my merc 200 and they said no need to??? Said that my engine had a fuel water separator on it?? mine is a 2018

Sounds crazy to me but......so far no issues.

Re: outboard motors

if you need service of some kind, Zuk and Honda do not have as extensive a network. Almost everyone services merc and yam. This really comes into play if you tow to different bodies of water and something happens. I am also big on buying local......as long as their reputation is good.

Re: outboard motors

All the brands are good these days. However, with anything you buy, you can get a bad apple. I have had every brand out there over many years and only had one bad apple that nobody could figure out. I have a 200 hp Merc Verado right now and so far with 200 hrs on it, it has been flawless. Hope it st...

Re: More newbie questions

Shark hide is a must if you plan to trailer to salt water. Mine came with it on it and you can see every place they missed. My use is almost 100% salt though.

Re: Small high performance pontoon

What HP is your boat rated for? Technically that could be a limitation.
I am guessing the folks that sell logs would probably be your best technical help as I am sure they do this all the time???

Re: GPS advice

I purchased the small garmin Eco Map that mounts on a very small post and placed it next to my windshield. It easily snaps in and out if you do not want to leave it on the boat. I love this feature. Takes one second to snap in or out of cradle. It reads bottom at 30+ miles per hour as well. I think ...

Re: TROLLING MOTOR

I was asking minn kota vs motor guide witch one holds up better in saltwater You will find praise and complaints on both. I would purchase the one your local dealer sells and services. 90% of trolling motors run for many years with zero issues. the other 10% are in the shop constantly. If you do ha...

Re: Some basic newbie questions

Buy Local is all I can add and stress. Depending on where you live, I would avoid Suzuki, not that they are bad engines at all, but they have a very limited dealer network in most places, even today. Not bashing at all, I owned twins at one time, but getting them serviced was a PITA If budget allows...
