Re: Where do you mount your rear view mirrors?

I bought this one. I have a round, flat plastic plate if you will that had 3M tape on the bottom from a 3" screen I bought. I stuck it to my helm and this just suction cups to the plate. works great but I normally turn around anyway...can't be too careful. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DLP7HX...

Re: Motor height

i was out sunday on the river...ran at WOT no ventilation both upstream and down. Going upstream was more of a chore for the pontoon, it didn't help to have a pretty stiff head wind too. raising the motor was the best thing for it. It even stopped all the spray that was covering the motor and sun de...

Re: Motor height

Joseph was commenting about a tritoon but you have a regular pontoon (you don't have the third pontoon leg) so that doesn't apply to you. I still say to raise it up...your motor and my motor look like they were in the same spot, kinda low. I raised mine all the way up (but did it a little at a time)...

Re: Motor height

i've been fighting with ventilation issues myself. I have a 60hp merc that was mounted at the top holes (motor at the lowest setting). My cavitation plate was pretty low compared to the bottom of the transom. I raised the motor two holes and saw a little bit of difference in a good way. raised it up...

Re: Motor height

I have a 2002 Palm Beach pontoon with a Mercury 50. Does this motor seem to low? I can be underway on the water and it will run fine the it blows out all of a sudden. Rpms go up and boat slows down. Back off throttle and back to cruising. It happens at random times. I thought maybe the motor is to ...

Re: Does anyone use a shallow water anchor?

Check out ROLANDS post on his solution! scroll down in this thread. http://www.pontoonforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=26156&p=213866#p213866 i think he got his from West Marine or Bass Pro Shops, something like that. I'm more curious if a 3/4" rod would be enough or do I need to go up to the 1" diam...

Re: Does anyone use a shallow water anchor?

This is what I use and works great. It even held two pontoons. Folds flat for easy storage. https://www.overtons.com/seachoice-fold-and-hold-galvanized-anchor-19-lb.-360468.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMItr27g7Pc6gIVXSCtBh2kDwFWEAQYBSABEgIH_vD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds i do have a box anchor that works well, and i ...

Does anyone use a shallow water anchor?

So I have been looking at either buying or building my own shallow water anchors. Being that we normally are on the river and most places we tend to stop at are shallow water (<5' deep) I would love to be able to stick a couple poles in the water instead of dealing with the big anchors. Does anyone ...

Re: Update on ventilation issue

So I took the boat out this morning without all that extra weight. It was pretty choppy and the wind was blowing, not the most ideal conditions, however I was able to get to 5500 rpm and a top speed of 18mph. At WOT you can see the cavitation plate. The only thing that is still a mystery is I still ...

Re: Update on ventilation issue

So taking the boat out today, at WOT the cavitation plate is just visable, pretty much what it should be. I have a couple more people and more gear than normal so I'm about 5mph below what I normally do.
So I think I have the height dialed in...small victories!

Re: Update on ventilation issue

I could go up another 2 holes and that's with me drilling out the transom and making new holes....and seeing if the steering cable can be at an angle. maybe i need to look for a short shaft motor....
