Re: I thought it was one thing...and it was another

Well after a long time not being on the water I got the boat back in saturday and ran it. I successfully got everything reassembled, put it on muffs, and it started right up. good sign! so i told the wife we're putting this thing in the river to see if she works now so we hopped in the truck and hea...

Re: I thought it was one thing...and it was another

got new gasket and impeller put in this weekend on the lower unit, painted the motor cowling and exhaust plate, then found that my trim motor was leaking oil from the reservoir screw(i guess it's a known issue) so I ordered a replacement one and a relief valve screw too since that wasn't in great sh...

Re: I thought it was one thing...and it was another

I ordered the replacement parts, should be here by early next week. since I had the lower unit out I checked the impeller and housing and all looks great (the lower unit was bought new 2 years ago). I did order a new upper gasket for the water pump housing cause the one that was in there was a littl...

I thought it was one thing...and it was another

So this weekend I embarked on a journey, a journey i was fairly confident with armed with the service manual. So the bottom of the motor would shake near the bottom of the swivel pin (just above the bottom yoke) so thinking that the bearings had gone bad I ordered new ones in preparation for the upc...

Re: Replacing thermostat...i think it was time

at a certain point I know that putting more and more money into a 1995 motor isn't smart, however any other used motor I run the same risk...and affording let alone finding a new motor to buy is just crazy. I just want to be able to take the boat out on the water and not have to worry about anything...

Re: Let's talk batteries and voltage regulators

It had a 16 amp stator. i have a stereo, some accent led lights, led docking lights which rarely get used, a fish/depth finder, and a couple usb charging ports, and 3 gauges (rpm, water pressure, fuel gauge) that have lighting to see at night and that's about it...not a whole lot compared to other b...

Re: Let's talk batteries and voltage regulators

normally there is a Minn Kota 2 bank charger on the batteries if the boat sits for more than a week, otherwise I run it enough so that the batteries are never depleted. even when out on the water I hardly run electronics, mainly because the other boats I go out with have a larger sound system so no ...

Re: Bilge pump drain

I am not very knowledgeable about your pontoon however can you get to the bilge pump itself? (i can't imagine they would make it totally non-accessible). I was thinking if you could get to it and remove the hose take a vacuum and suck it out.

Re: Replacing thermostat...i think it was time

I checked to make sure there wa...

Re: Replacing thermostat...i think it was time

So I got a call from the boat mechanic...he asks me who adjusted the carbs. I told him the previous shop said my carbs were out of sync and they adjusted them. Well I guess they "synced" them so well that cylinder 1 & 3 were so far out and cylinder 2 was the only one that was working "right", or clo...
