Re: First Post - New Pontoon with List

That second dealer basically should have said "Hey, keep your boat and send us ten grand and everything will be OK."
What a sleaze.

Re: Props

I think the prop guy may be making suggestions based on a traditional hull. Diameter and pitch adjustments both affect RPM, but on a pontoon the typical prop setup calls for going with large diameter to grab as much surface area as possible and correct pitch to get in the sweet spot. An inch of diam...

The answer is staring you right in the face. You and your partner should swap duties.

Hey, you ever go anchor out by Nick Saban's house on Burton with glittery poster board and wait for him to come out, then squeal?
I would.

Boat size? Gear ratio? Trim? Outboard position/height? Current prop size/pitch??? Won't be apples to apples but here's an example of a Yamaha 250 and their prop on a Starcraft: https://yamahaoutboards.com/en-us/home/outboards/350-150-hp/v6-4-2l/f250/pb_starcraft_sx_23_r_dc_f250xca_8-5-18_pnt And her...

Re: SouthEasat Lakes? Lanier?

Cool history link, Steiner. I Zillow'd the area - yeah. I haven't hit the lottery once, much less twice. I was looking for something in the six-digit area, lol. Maybe not so close to a nuke plant. Did that already when I lived within 10 mi of San Onofre. If you look up Devil's Fork State Park which...

Re: SouthEasat Lakes? Lanier?

Lake Keowee is clean since it was built for the nuke plant, plus that means the level doesn't move very much. Lake Hartwell is huge. Lake Jocassee would be my choice as it's 95% protected with only about 40 homes on it, but you'd have to hit the lottery twice to afford it. The three are connected bu...

Re: How is boat availability in your area?

Found her a 2018 22' Crestliner tritoon with 150 Merc and 75 hours with trailer and all the trimmings for $32k. "Family circumstances dictate sale"...think we'll see a lot of that next year. It'll probably be gone by this afternoon if it's not already.

Re: slide on bunk brackets

Maybe I am missing something in that picture as am curious how they slide on/off? Looks like the were slid on before they put the trailer together? Other than a grinder or blow torch, how are you going to get them off and get a new set back on? I must be missing something and hope you dont make me ...

How is boat availability in your area?

My lake neighbor is looking for a 22' tritoon with at least 150hp. She lives in Asheville, NC and our lake is Lake Keowee in SC. There is....practically nothing available around us unless you want to order new and wait but I told her what she's looking for with trailer is going to probably be around...

Re: Sun Tracker 18DLX Party Barge and Lake Lanier in GA

If you just want to float in the coves or beach it it's probably fine. I would not run around on Lanier without a tritoon on the weekends. Used to live in Sugar Hill two minutes from Lanier Park.

Re: Cover support

You can buy those vents like come on fitted boat covers for about $10 and the telescoping support poles aren't much more. Could put one in front and rear. I think they probably work better than those mushroom head standalone poles because the vent installs/clamps into the cover and then the pole ins...

Re: Strakes vs Non Strakes

Yes, get the lifting strakes. You should get the performance your looking for with a 115HP on a 20ft pontoon. By the way, imo, a pontoon with a 115HP should be faster than a tritoon with a 115HP. Less weight and less wet running surface. I hold the opposite opinion on that. The third ‘toon weight i...
