Re: PONTOON BOATS

I highly recommend Carlisle's Marine in Smyrna, fantastic service and staff. I bought my first 2006 Tracker Party Cruiser 32 at Bass Pros Shops. Boat was great, Bass Pro wasn't. Bought my 2013 Party Barge at Carlisle's. Had one minor warranty issue in the 4years I've had it and Carlisle's sent me to...

Re: Quality control !

Yep. I know very few people with Trackers that actually have problems with them that the other brands don't have more of. It makes people feel better about paying twice as much or more for something by deriding brands that are cheaper. I have photos of "premium" brands with some very serious QC issu...

Re: Quality control !

The Upper Chesapeake Bay is a torture test for new pontoons. I've seen bad welds on several brands out here. G3 dealer has a ton back for repairs, another it's fixing Benningtons. Guy in my marina paid 65k for his, same thing with bad welds. This boat is in a lift, never kept in the water. Bentley, ...

Re: 2006 MercCruiser 3.0 won't idle

If it's spraying water at the lower unit case half, then yes someone did not reinstall the drive correctly. Pretty common if the guy who last removed the drive didn't know sealer goes there.

Re: 2006 MercCruiser 3.0 won't idle

If it's a TKS carb, nothing automotive will retrofit. Merc started building their own 2 barrel carbs when Rochester would no longer make them. Sorry, it's only Mecruiser or rebuild if so. Some 2006-08 Merc 3.0s had the old style carb, rare though.

Re: 2006 MercCruiser 3.0 won't idle

One other thing, most people don't realize is there are 2 fuel filters on this engine. One is inside the carburetor fuel inlet and the other is in the bottom of them mechanical fuel pump. Very difficult to get to, and the 10mm bolt has a wire on it the prevent the bolt from loosening up. I've seen a...

Re: 2006 MercCruiser 3.0 won't idle

In 2006, they were Alpha One Generation 2 drives. Great engine/drive package. Yes, you are in need of a carburetor rebuild. I had 2 boats with this engine and the only thing that goes bad on them is the carbs. More than likely it is also a TKS carb. Very expensive to buy new at about $500-600. Sendi...

Re: Is 90 hp big enough for a 20 ft?
Ours is 22 feet long.

The 90 does well on it.

So for 2' shorter it should be fine.
Same here. 90 on my 22 ft and it's plenty fast.
