They will be more white than shiny. Only way to get the shiny look is to polish.

Make sure your motor height is correct. If it is not you get strange results with different props.

I think you are on the right track with the solenoid. I had one on a yamaha that did the same thing. Replaced it solved the issue. I am not aware of a good way to test them when they work intermittently.

Can't tell from the information you are giving us. You could try another input into the amp to narrow it down. Does the amp take rca inputs?

Use a meter to see if the trigger wire on the solenoid is getting 12 volts when the key is turned. You can also test the solenoid by applying power to the trigger wire (not jumping the solenoid).

Nope. Stainless just weighs much more than aluminum. I have an OEM yamaha aluminum prop that came new on my yamaha 150 years ago. Very light compared to the stainless one that I replaced it with. Motor works fine with both.

I cranked it to test each time. No metal grinding even when I did not have it correct. It just would not go into gear despite what the shifter was in. I did not try it without the engine running.

Nope. Sounds like what I went through. The gear shift shaft does not need to move much at all. Just keep the throttle control on Fwd. Gently turn the gear shift shaft until it is in fwd. I wound up trying multiple time to get it correct. To test it I wound up adjusting the gear shift shaft in the di...
