Re: 2013 Yamaha F115 to 2018 Evinrude 150 G1

The only 2 stroke to go with us the G2. If you have a late model Yamaha, life would go so much easier swapping/trading for a F150 or better yet a F200. The 200 would need Seastar power steering assist which is very pricey to add on, however. The F150 is conservative on horsepower and is a whole lot ...

Re: Where should I be looking for a used boat?

There are two problems with Texas. #1 is that the state is so large and not every town has lakes.. And #2 is that it is a long way from Dallas to anywhere else.

Center your search on Texas, Eastern Oklahoma and Arkansas.

But now do I keep our neighborhood Blue Heron off my boat? Big Bird's talons have torn two seats and he ate my captain's chair armrest cover. Progressive will not pay unless an animal gets under a mooring cover.

Re: The Ultimate Pontoon Adventure...

My buddy is down in the British Virgins on a 57 foot power cat with three other couples. It is his third trip on cats.

Online they look good. But they appear to be very expensive to buy outright and the rental units may have fractional ownership like a time share.

Re: 2017 Sylvan 8522 Entertainer Tritoon Merc 150 prop help

I would go back to the original engine height, and then try an Enertia 14 pitch prop. It is the standard of the industry for pontoon props--and available in 1 inch pitch increments.

Re: Moving Engine Mount Aft

Leave it like it is. The cutout muffles the.sound.of the motor. I have a Starcraft styled like it, and my Yamaha 115 horsepower two stroke planes at 2800 rpm's and is very, very quiet.
One problem with small motors is that they are relatively loud because they have to be run so hard.

Re: Water Pump

Only a $28 part. Kits are seldom required if you are careful with gaskets. Pay attention to the direction the impeller veins were turned so the new one can be put back the same direction. Bolts to remove the lower unit are easy to find--except for that one bolt under the bottom of the steering tab o...

Racine, Wisconsin at Great Lakes Skipoer has the best toons. They are pretty rare in the deep south.

Re: Yamaha 225 vs 250-Sun Tracker vs Sun Catcher

If a $23,000 motor is going on a tritoon boat, the hull really should be a high performance model and brand. And if you are going to spend that much money, the boat should also.have premium seating, fencing and features. I don't know that SunTracker or G2 meet that criteria. Are you comparing a Yama...

Re: Front of your boat ever gone way up?

I have an old Starcraft pontoon with a very strong Yamaha 115 horsepower 2 stroke. Throw the throttle from a dead start and it accelerates really fast because the nose just goes straight ahead--not nose high. Planing hull boats always start with the nose high before planing off. The displacement pon...

Re: 3RD POONTOON FOR THE 1992 TRACKER

All you are needing with the strakes is getting the nosecones out of the water. That's good for 10 mph in most cases. It is best to have 115 horsepower or more and underskinning. Great Lakes Skipper is one of the few sources of toons. Most are seconds. They have a website showing all kinds of produc...

Well as a car guy, you recognize buying at low wholesale so you can sell later at retail. I consider the prices you've been quoted as "high wholesale.". My suggestion is to hang back and wait for a deal to come around.

Re: sun tracker party barge owners question

I have a Bennington, however I can address your question. Ventilation will usually occur when your propeller is not deep enough in the water. That means the engine is sitting too high on the transom or when the engine trimmed too high. One other situation is when a bunch of people sit up front--lift...

Re: How many dock lines?

I always use 4 docking lines. I purchase a 50 foot bag of hollow rope, cut it in 4 pieces and put a loop on each end threading the ends of the rope inside the hollow rope. That gives me 4 nine foot sections I put on the 4 cleats on each corner of my boat. I always tie the end of each rope to the fen...
