Polishing toons, what am I doing wrong?

I have spent the entire day trying to get started on polishing my pontoons. I did the acid wash yesterday, so I thought I was prepped and ready for a productive day. I have tried Sharkhide Polish, 3M polish, and even buff majic. I have used wool pads and went an bought a cutting foam pad. On the bac...

Re: What is the hot product for sealing toons?

Did not mean to come accross as "snarkey", I appologize if I came accross that way. I am a bit anal about all my stuff. I just put a deposit down to have a epoxy resign coating put down ony garage floor because the little cracks in. The concrete were driving me nuts! When I had my cruiser I would sp...

Re: What is the hot product for sealing toons?

As a rule, I try to keep everything I have as nice as possible. If it means a little work, so be it. I take pride in my boat also.

Oh by the way, Pittsburgh ain't south.

Re: What is the hot product for sealing toons?

I meant just polishing without doing a sealer like Sharks Hide. Will the shine last the season with boat staying in water?

What is the hot product for sealing toons?

I was planning on using Sharkshide after polishing this year. I have run accross a couple products I have never heard of before and am wondering if they might be a better choice. Alumetron, and Top Coat. Anybody have any experience with these?

Re: Pontoon polishing/sealing

I acid washed my last pontoon every spring with no bad results. It's not like you are putting sizzling. Acid on something. I don't believe you could even register the. Amount of aluminum you would loose from a product like Nappa aluminum brightener or Starbright aluminum cleaner.

Pontoon polishing/sealing

Have been away from pontoons for a few years. Is the standard for clean/polish seal pontoons still as it was? 1 acid wash 2 buff polish 3 seal with Sharkshide. In starting my research this time around, I came accross a product called Gords that is a all in one http://www.gordsaluminumpolish.com/ Has...

Re: The journey is starting

OK, made the 700 mile round trip journey to get her and bring her home yesterday. To be honest, I didnt realize just how dirty and neglected this 37 hour boat is. I have paper work that shows me 3 oil changes from the marina that stored it over the winters, but I think thats where all maint. stopped...

Re: JOHN LARSON

John and I became very good friends on this forum. He and I both shared a love for boats and handguns. We had many off forum conversations. When I asked him for the first time to send me a pic of what he looked like, this is what I got!

The journey is starting

I posted last week that I was coming back to the pontoon side of boating back from the cruiser scene. I formerly had a 2002 Bennington 2275RL with a 125 Merc. Had Forest Green full enclosure and loved that boat. Wife had been on me for years to get a cruiser with air, big cushy bed, etc. I gave in a...

I am back!

I have had a 2004 Bennington 22RL with a full enclosure and done up just the way I wanted it. Wife and I both got a wild hair and decided we wanted to try the cruiser style of boating. Well, we bought a 30 Carver Santego 1 1/2 years ago after selling our Bennington. What a @$^&*$ mistake that was!!!...
