Re: First time out, have some problems...

How about running a can of Sea Foam thru it first, it should help to clean it out and it's cheaper than tearing things apart first.
Had a snowmobile last year that I had not run for two years. Ran like crap when excellerating. added a can of Sea Foam and within a couple hours was running great.

San Pan is the top of the line Godfrey built Pontoons, so you got a good one there.

Re: newbies with a few questions

I can help with a couple questions. If you want to do some sking I would look at least 115 HP for a 24'. Another alternative would be go to 22' and the 90 would suffice, that's what I have. How big a group will you be taking out may determine 22 or 24. Winterizing, if someone else does it $100 - $15...

Re: starcraft 20ft pontoon speed

A 20' Pontoon with a 90 4S getting 23 MPH is a tad slow.
Seems that's a common number for 22" with a 90 4S and that's what I get.
You should be getting a few MPH more, say around 26 - 27.
Your WOT RPM seems right, but you could try a different prop.

Re: How much increase in speed between a 60 and a 90?

I get the same as Heatman & Lakerunner 22-24 depending on conditions.
22' AquaPatio, 90 4S Yammy.
So with a 20' and 90 HP you should get a few more MPH.

Re: Shock of my life, when I took the cover off

Have decided to put into indoor storage next winter. We live in the country so the possibility of a repeat visit is good. I was thinking of shrink wrap, but now hear if they want in they just tear a hole in it. I'll also be using Bounce sheets or moth balls for extra protection. I hear the moth ball...

Re: Shock of my life, when I took the cover off

Actually just got it back and it looks fabulous.
Hasn't looked that good since it was new, they really did a fabulous job.
I like the colour of the new carpet better than the old.
Will put it in the water Saturday and take a couple pics to post.

Re: Shock of my life, when I took the cover off

First estimate to repair, keeping in mind they have to remove everything from the deck and spray a resin to seal the wood to recarpet and redo the lounges. They expect it will take 2-3 weeks to complete repairs. $11,000 $8,000 of that being labour. I am waiting to hear back from the adjuster on the ...

Re: lightning

I wouldn't worry about the toon in a lightning storm, I'd be worried about my own ass.
A neighbour of mine many years ago went out fishing early one morning, didn't come back and they found him in his boat with a lightning strike to his chest.

Re: Shock of my life, when I took the cover off

The company doing the repairs did say that Bounce Sheets will work.
I know we use Bounce Sheets in my place up north and they seem to keep the mice away.
Won't hurt to use them.
I'm also going to get the boat shrink wrapped next year to seal all round.

Re: Shock of my life, when I took the cover off

We use Bounce sheets in our place up north and they seems to work, I should have used them in the boat as well. Lesson learned.
But I think next year I'll have the boat shrink wrapped to seal it up.
With the tarp, the ends were still open a bit so she was able to get it.

Shock of my life, when I took the cover off

I took the cover off last week-end and got the shock of my life. A Raccoon decided to take up residence and did a LOT of damage. She basically shredded all along the bottom and got a couple seats, pissed and rip up spots all over the carpet. Damaged some wiring, ripped a speaker out to get access to...

Re: Putting on the damn cover!!

Mine doesn't sound anything like yours. To take mine off, I undue all the snaps, fold both outsides into the middle, remove and lower the supports, roll it up from front to back. about 10 min. To put back on, I roll it out back to front, snap the back on, then down one side, all from inside the boat...
