Re: Where do you fill her up with gas? Cans, station or marina?

Then I’ll have to hold the can up to fill via funnel. The off road cans empty fairly quickly, as long as the funnel can take it. Hope it doesn’t get old too quickly. I fill my boat from two 5 gallon jugs every weekend. No way I would ever use a funnel. Get a jiggle siphon (some call them shaker sip...

Re: Which Scotch Brite for de-scumming the toons?

I acid wash my toons every Fall using a mag wheel cleaner sold by a local hardware store. They carry this product exclusively to clean pontoons. It is bottled locally and not available anywhere else or I would tell you what it is. My boat sits in the water from March to October so I use the green 3"...

I would try polishing the screen first. Toothpaste might work!
Try to avoid the acid wash unless other methods don't properly clean the toon. If you have algae on the bottom, it may be required.
Do you think acid washing removes a significant amount of aluminum? Or is there another reason you suggest to avoid it?

Re: Steering wheel replacement hunt

I got this one from pontoonstuff.com a few seasons ago. Very reasonably priced and customer service that can't be beat. I get lots of compliments on it and it still looks brand new. (Don't forget the discount code for forum members -- will save you an extra 10%.) https://www.pontoonstuff.com/product...

Re: click, click, click, CRANK

Update: The starter / solenoid gave up the ghost in dramatic fashion Sunday. Wife had the boat out with friends while I stayed at the house working on some other stuff. She tried to start it to come home. Said she heard "noise" coming from the outboard, but it wouldn't start. It became weird when sh...
with electrical there can be quite a difference between voltage and amperage (current) for those who have been involved with issues like this, it can be a case of voltage getting to the component (starter) or relay, but because of corrosion there is a lack of amperage or ...
If there's a starter relay, chances are that's the issue.
You may be right. But I replaced the starter relay two years ago with an OEM one, so my money (quite literally) will probably be on the starter solenoid or the starter.
