You have to write us and let us know your e-mail address and we can remove it from the banned list one at a time and allow you to sign up with free e-mails.

Write to: admin@pontoonforums.com for help

Free e-mail accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, MSN, etc. are being used by spammers to sign up here. If it weren't for Herb and I deleting/banning them this site would be overrun with SPAM.

We have G-mails and a few more free type e-mails banned because of all the spammers coming from them, so if you try to sign up with a free e-mail you get a message your e-mail can't be used, we can ok them one at a time.

I just posted this here for new people trying to get in, or people here who want to switch to a free e-mail, just send an pm to one of the Mods.

That is probably why I am GregF here instead of Gfretwell like I am everywhere else. I tried signing up using gfretwell@aol.com and had no success. I used the pop server at my web site host (greg @gfretwell.com) and that worked fine.

Thanks guys for all your work. Sometimes users think everything is working fine on its own and don't realize mods are working to keep it running smoothly.

They sort of why we are here in the first place, the other site would go down a week at a time, so we used John's site as a back up, then Mike set this one up after John died of a heart attack and we lost that site, with no mod powers to control the spam.

Mike did and good job setting this site up, then one day the other site pissed us off, so we took their ball and started a new team.

I want to thank every member for making this a great place to be, John would have loved this site, It's been seven years since we lost John 6x6 Larson, and almost four years since the mass exodus, that happened after obummer got elected and the top posters were banned, BMR more than once :rofl :rofl :rofl

I think my ban count was 15, lol. Brady tried banning my IP, failed at that because I use proxies, then my e-mail address (I have plenty of those) :rofl

Then they banned using the words Badmoonrsing ANYWHERE on the site :rofl :rofl :rofl and then right after that, they changed the word filters to not allow "BMR" either after people were asking where I went. :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

I dont know if its an option with this software on this forum,

but on the one I help run, the anti spammer broke after an upgrade, so after disabling it I was having to deal with spammers,

so I added an additional field at start up , asking a simple obious question, like for example:
what is the forum pontoonforums.com about?_________________

andy any answer is a correct answer, as long as the answer is not yes, I ve had NO spammers sign up after that.
real users have signed up succesfully

maybe an idea

As a new joinee.. I read this thread first and thought to my self.. where is the email address that I am supposed to send the request to? You can't view profiles until you join, even after you join and you view profiles there is not a visible email address only the option to PM.

So after reading for a while and finding lots of information I signed up with my work email address.. which isn't really desirable since I figured out that people in this position have about a 2yr life span...

How about tossing on here the preferred request email address or a link to where the preferred email address is? Maybe a dedicated contact page?
thanks,
