Soon to be new boat owners from GA

#1 Post by lulupalooza06 » Tue Feb 09, 2016 3:58 pm

Hi all!

We are soon to be new boat owners from Evans, GA (burbs of Augusta). She will be in our driveway next month. Clarks Hill lake is where we will be playing! We are getting what I think is a really good deal on a 2001 Smokercraft Bentley 24' pontoon. It has been very well cared for. So we are excited! This is our first boat, second actually, but we haven't touched the other in over 10 years and it is probably something the hubby will work on eventually. I have spent a lot of time reading and learning. I guess our biggest issue is going to be the backing up into the driveway, so look for lots of video to come, with a lot of laughs. :) Looking forward to learning a lot more from all you guys (didn't really see any ladies posting).

Congratulations on the new pontoon boat... you are going to love it... don't sweat backing down the driveway.... that concerned me as well... we have a fairly long driveway, about 190 feet or so, and about 130 feet of the driveway is only single car width.... actually picked it up pretty quick... best advice I can give you is go slow and don't "over" correct.. you'll be fine.

Female posters are always welcome! LadyGT, also from GA, was an active poster thru last summer. The forum becomes somewhat inactive during the winter months but gets cranked back up in the early spring.

LadyGT where have you been?

Good luck with your new boat. If you tow with a pickup truck consider getting a front hitch. It makes putting the trailer in tough spots downright easy. Cost should be less tan 100 bucks and well worth every penny.

Thank you guys for the welcome! That front hitch is a good idea. I am not sure if we will even be able to get her in our driveway. Ours pitches downward on a small slope toward the house. We couldn't get our camper in, so it's 3 houses down, parked in my Mom's driveway. If all else fails, then the boat will be in her driveway too. Time to buy that lake property I have been dreaming about for so long. Have a great weekend all!
