Do not know anything about batteries. If you have two batteries and you want to put them together, can you just . Run a cable from positive post of one battery to the negative of the other battery and still have twelve volts?
Or run a cable from positive of one battery to positive of other battery and negative to negative ?

I just want to put two batteries together for twelve volts to start motor and run lights with out lights going dim when you turn them on.

Run positive to positive, negative to negative to build amps and stay 12 volts

Positive to negative is going to give you 24 volt with two batteries which is not what you want.
