First i would really like to thank everyone who has helped me on this site. I am brand new and this site is incredible

Question
We are looking at purchasing a 2014 Premier Cast-A-Way. It only has 1 battery. In discussion with some friends they all agree the I should have the dealer install a Perko switch and another battery.' I am presently not running any trolling motors or anything big. They said I can play stereo more, and just a safety precautionary thing. Any Comments ?? Is this worth doing ??

Not mandatory but well worth it as far as I'm concerned.

I came upon another thread on this and it seemed that the general consensus was to get the second battery,

I have 2 and think that is the best way to go.

Absolutely nice to have if you have the room for, certainly not an absolute need... Really have to look at where could the battery let you down? We do mostly marina hopping with a little swimming here and there with the radio playing at low volumes so not a big draw...

I agree with the others, certainly not a "have to" thing, but it's always nice to have. I only have one on my boat but I also carry a jump box each trip out just in case.. so far never needed it, but you never know...

It might depend on where you boat. If you're on a small inland lake, I'd feel okay with a jumper box.

For larger waters or scarcer the services, I run two batteries (and a Sea Tow membership).
