Senior citizen from Eastern Ohio here, and first day on this site. Glad that this site is available. ANyway, just out of curiosity what does it cost approximately to have a 22' pontoon re-decked and re-carpeted ? Few years back I would try and tackle this myself, but too many aches and pains at this stage of the game. Thank you all in advance.

Last time I recarpeted my old Starcraft, it took about 2 weeks part time to remove the fencing, furniture, etc. and replace the carpet.

I found a couple of small pieces of non-marine grade plywood rotted, however the rest of my 20+ year old plywood was in great shape. You never know what you're going to run into. Doing a 100% plywood re-do would be easier if you could use your old plywood panels as templates.

One thing you need to do is make sure you use the correct mastic (carpet glue), and rent a 100 pound tile roller to get out all the bubbles under the carpet.

It's a job that's almost unaffordable to get a professional to do. I'd get me a couple of high school kids to do the dirty work--crawling up under the boat removing bolts, etc. Then, just supervise them--telling them what to do.

Ok, thanks. I DID receive an estimate from a Marine repair shop. They said between $1500 - $1800 plus hardware. Thank you.

Actually we didn't get a used pontoon boat yet, as we are still looking. I just wanted an idea for negotiation reasons in case it needs a new deck. Thank Gelnn
