Just joined up! We've been boat owners almost all our lives. Sold my fishing boat two years ago when we moved to mountains. Purchased a travel trailer and have been traveling. This month we went to a lake where we spent many, many years and decided we needed another boat. Wife has been talking about a pontoon for years. We looked into it and just ordered a G3 Sun Catcher V322 FC. We enjoy fishing, and after I read these make good fishing boats I got excited. The boat will have a Yamaha 150 on it. I also couldn't believe the speeds some of these can do.
We're very excited to get back on the water, and can't wait for it to arrive (about six weeks).
Anyway, this looks like a great site and I'll have some questions soon regarding trolling motors etc. I'll place them in the appropriate thread.

Steve.. welcome to the forum... and yes, pontoons can make for some very comfortable fishing boats. When we ordered ours, we did so with it rigged for fishing. What I enjoy the most is you can spend 5 or so hours fishing and when you get a little tired of sitting, you've got plenty of room to get up and stretch your legs....No way can you be this comfortable in a bass rig... You're gonna love that G3.. congratulations again...

Thanks for the welcome guys. We primarily bass fish along the shores, but I can also see us anchoring now and then and fishing with the grandkids.
We went with the two fishing seats up front for the room working with the trollling motor and maneuvering the poles/fish. We decided to add tha fish finder after also so we get the one we want. I don't feel I need a fancy fish finder on this boat like I had in the past, but even the smaller ones are packed with features now. I'm looking at the Lowrance Hook 5.

I added a Hook 5 to mine with a RAM mount and a lakes SD card for more detail. I was able to run the cables thru the bottom plate of the RAM so that they are pretty much tucked out sight. The set up works well for me.

Thanks for the info. I'll likely do the same.
