Howdy from south GA

Hey y'all! Just stumbled across the forums yesterday. Love all the photos of your boats and lakes. My family (wife & 10 year old son...plus a yorkie) & I own a 2007 SunTracker Party Barge 21 that we bought towards the end of summer last year. We'd owned a 19' Maxum bowrider since 2010, but it was cramped any time we took friends out with us. My son never got into anything other than tubing, which we can still do (sort of) with the toon. My wife & I are loving the comfort of the toon. My speed demon days are behind me (thankfully...because about 20 knots is all she'll do). Lake Blackshear is where we spend the majority of our time. In the summer and around holidays, the lake gets really choppy with all the boat traffic, and would beat us to death in the bowrider. The pontoon just glides through the wakes for a much smoother ride in the rough stuff.

Anyhow, hello from south GA! Here are a few pics from our last trip out to the lake in November.

All those pics and I left out the pic of the boat. Here she is anchored at the redneck yacht club.

Thanks, Steve. It's been a great change from the bowrider so far. Ready for consistently warmer temps so we can get back out on the water.

Thanks, Flattop! I found my wife in Woodstock, GA, then drug her to south GA. Lake Blackshear near Cordele is where we normally boat. I inherited a place at Lake Seminole in the southwest corner of the state, but being as my family is more into the recreational aspect of boating (swimming, relaxing) rather than fishing, I don't get there as often as I'd like. A good friend and his family live in Locust Grove, and have made us promise to go to Lake Jackson at some point this year.

I am from Thomasville originally, I have been to Blackshear a few times. We boat on Lake Allatoona here.

Thanks, Zoom. I assume Tobesofkee while in Macon...but do you take the toon in gulf? Heck, I get nervous and head WOT to shore on Blackshear & Seminole when a thunder bumper starts rumbling and the waves start up. The gulf is BIG water.

I do have a marina slip on Tobesofkee. Small lake but it serves a purpose. Sinclair and Oconee are easily reached, and I was in a sail club on Sinclair for 20 years. Low bridges, though. Gotta drop the biminis on each pass.

I've got a tritoon with a 150 so the Gulf is great fun! Boat St. Andrews Bay sometime. Plenty to do in the bay if you want to stay protected. I can think of at least half dozen restaurants that have private docks, or you can walk to from a public dock. Leeward side of Shell Island or stick near shore and run east to Crooked Island. It's like being in the Bahamas. On nice days, the water is as flat and clear as a swimming pool.

The wife says one day we should run down to Blackshear and do a bit of exploring. Maybe rent a place to stay there for a weekend, if it has a dock.
