Hi from Colorado Springs

#1 Post by revslev » Wed Jul 22, 2009 5:05 pm

Hi all...just upgraded from a classic speed boat to a pontoon boat. Suntracker 24' party barge with a 90hp merc optimax. Time to slow down and enjoy the coffee. Pick it up this Friday........take it in on Monday to get a full custom camper enclosure on it. Can't wait to cruise, fish, barbeque, party and just enjoy the day. Don't get me wrong, the speedboat was fun, but the party doesn't start till the party barge gets there. Oh Yea!!!!!!!!!!

:givebeer

Will put some pics up once I get the toon

Yup, I can relate. I went from an 18 ft. sleekcraft jet boat to a pontoon. Now, I can kick back and drive with my feet. I can barely hear the 50 honda run. Good job on the enclosure, You will increase the length of the season with it.

Hey Colorado Springs,

Glad to have you aboard! I triped over a rock at Garden of the Gods onetime...

Seriously, you'll get a lot of good memories out of your toon.

I just had mine re-logged last year (two out board logs) and am really enjoying the ride.

Welcome, congrats on the toon. Post some photos of the camper top, like to see it. The 90 opti is a great little motor. Had one on the old toon and no problems the 10 years or so I had it. Enjoy

Welcome--The wife and I were thinking of heading out there next week but the long range forecast for rain isnt looking too good. Cant see coming down the ole Continental Divide in a motorhome in a driving rainstorm.

My wife is a nervous traveler anyway. Probably have to dart her.

Maybe in a couple weeks.

Finally get to take her out tomorrow (Sunday) and Monday. Then off she goes to get her full enclosure. Still can't believe how little she makes my F250 (with a 2" lift) look. Had the tech from BasPros take me out the day I bought her to show me the differences in launching and re-trailering. Looking forward to taking her out ALL DAY. Can't believe how quiet these new motors are. My old Glastron CV16 had a 115hp merc (tower of power) and you could not speak without yelling. I'm going to have to remind myself that my motor hasn't stalled/stalling and I don't need to restart or gun the throttle. Wish me Luck :drive

Hello...What a difference between my toon and my old speedboat. Can't believe I didn't get one sooner, it was a great ride, handles much better than I thought it would, and talk about being able to relax. We spent the first three hours breaking in the motor, then just kicked back, relaxed, had some drinks, and relaxed some more. It was fantastic.

Putting her back on the trailer was a bit of a challenge though, back end kept drifting left, had to get in the water and hold/push her into the groves. Talked with a buddy who used to fish professionally, told me to keep more of the trailer out of the water, guide in my fronts and let the motor power me up. Did that the second time.........right into the groves with no issue.

I picked up those back of trailer guides (white fiberglas poles) so I can see where the actual back of the trailer is, made a big difference the third time out. Didn't have to have the trailer so far out of the water, and was easily able to guide the toon up onto the trailer.

Drove her with the full enclosure last time, very easy to see out of, was like driving a giant tent trailer. Can't wait to go camping in her. I can certianly see why tooners love their toons so much...they are fantastic. :drive
