New Indiana boater

Hello all. New to the forum and new to pontoon life.

After a few years of boating with the in-laws and deliberating our own plan, the wife and I decided to get our own boat. We decided on a 2019 21 foot Lowe walk through with a 150hp Merc (SS210WT). We take possession here in the next week. We literally cannot wait to spend our days off on the water whenever we please now. Aside from us we have two daughters (12 and 11) who will mainly be out with us as well as the occasional friends and family who might tag along.

Been lurking here doing quite a bit of reading. Lot of good info here.

Thanks for having me and I look forward to contributing as much as I can. I will definitely get some photos uploaded as soon as I have them.

~Don

Well, we got the boat out for the first time a few weeks ago during the week to get some practice at the ramp. Water was way too chilly to get in, but we definitely enjoyed getting out on the water and enjoying the sunshine and tranquility.

Hows your power with the 150? I am looking at a Sun Tracker 24 with a 150 and am worried about having enough power to pull tubes.

Are you looking at a pontoon or a tritoon? As a point of comparison, I've got a 23' tritoon with a 150 and I've pulled 3 person tubes, a slalom skier, and a wakeboarder all with no problems. The only person who seemed disappointed was the wakeboarder because my boat doesn't have much of a wake. Tritoons tend to plane more than a pontoon so they get more speed, but either way you'll have plenty of HP to pull tubers.

FYI, at WOT, my boat tops out at 40 MPH.

I have nothing to compare to as far as pontoons are concerned as this was the first one I've been on and the first one I've owned.... but it is fast.

With just the wife and I, I've been up to 42mph on the speedo.... with others, coolers, and full tank odd gas at w.o.t. I'd say im still getting 30+.

Haven't pulled a tube or skier yet but it planes immediately and has plenty of power.

Couldn't be happier with our fist purchase.

Glad to see another Indiana tooner. I have a 2018 Harris 22ft with a 90HP merc. I don't pull anyone as I only have a dog and a gf. I have a slip on Lake Lemon that I keep it at all year long. I don't have a speedo so I have no idea about how fast but my 2 logger is plenty fast for me and best of all I have a kick ass stereo and always have plenty of beer on board. Happy tooning brother and above all have fun.
