Hello From Missouri

#1 Post by TheWhisker » Tue Nov 05, 2019 12:01 pm

Hello, glad to be here. I've had my first pontoon for about a year and have learned a lot about it over this past boating season. Looking forward to reading a lot of content and probably asking a lot of questions.

I have a 2007 Suncatcher Cruise 20 that I am converting to a fishing vessel over the winter. I'd hoped the Cruise would have fished a little better, but the seating just doesn't work well. But I know it wasn't made to fish anyway so no disappointment.

Anyway, I'll be around the help sections poking around and bugging folks. Thanks for the forum!

Welcome!

I'm a "party in slow motion" and tube towing the grand kids kind of pontoon guy, so I can't help on rigging it up for fishing :biggrin2 I assure you that there is a wealth of knowledge of here to help you out. Great bunch of people here.

Welcome to the forum! I'm like Marc - slow, lounging, and relaxed. As you make your changes, post pics to let us watch your progress.

Have fun with it!

Definitely slow and lounging for us too, but fishing over crappie beds rather than tubing or swimming. Mine's definitely not a race boat by any means, and that suits me fine.

welcome to the forum.. another "former" Missourian here.. I grew up in a small town just outside of St. Louis.. been in Louisana for nearly 35 years... once you get your rigged switched over for fishing you're gonna love it. Ours is rigged for fishing and we have had so many good times just anchored sitting back with the stereo on and a fishing rod in our hands... again, welcome to the group.

That's what I'm building ours for too.

So what small town, if I may ask?

I was born and raised in a small town on the illinois side of the mississippi river.. it's called Granite City, Il. steel mill town.. 20 - 25 minutes to Busch stadium via the poplar street bridge... Been gone from there for a loooooonnng time. I moved away when I was 21 and that was about 44 years ago.

Sure, I know Granite City. Been there countless times. I grew up on the MO side in Glasgow Village, if you remember that. Back when you could live there without a large guard dog and a firearm and survive, anyway.

Heck yeah I remember Glasgow Village.... unfortunately Granite City has gone the way of Glasgow.... When I was a kid I was out the door on a saturday morning at 9 am, on my bike and off to where ever... didn't come home til just before it got dark.. never any issues... now, just one block from where I grew up has become a real live hood... drove thru there the last time I was up that way and was really uncomfortable... got a lot of "stares" from the residents.... home aint what it used to be... just like you said.
