first pontoon

#1 Post by dutch » Sat May 09, 2020 9:44 am

This is Dutch from Michigan. According to my Governor I cannot go to Cabelas and pick up my new Suntracker 16 Bass Buggy that I ordered in January and recently arrived at the store. So, of course, I told the wife lets go get it and contribute our part to civil disobedience. Fortunately the Supreme Leader did not dispatch the Gestapo on us and we got the boat home safely. Always had fishing boats, never a pontoon, although I have fished on pontoons and enjoyed the space. Soon as the weather gets a little warmer, the wife and I will attempt our first launch at the boat ramp. This will be her first time being in the boat and backing it off the trailer. Hopefully, all will go smooth and I wont have to swim out to the pontoon after I park the truck and trailer. Followed the forum for a while before I made the purchase and picked up valuable ideas and suggestions for my entering into the world of pontoons. I would like to post pictures but I am digitally incompetent. I'll ask one of my 8 year old grandchildren to see if this can be done. Wish me luck!

The weather is killing me. The wife wont go unless its over 70. Next week promises mid 70'S. We will launch next week and the snow flurries last night are a thing of the past. I was always able to launch the v bottom boats by myself in the past so I could go alone if it was too cold for the wife, but now, she will be necessary for the pontoon launch. Fingers crossed. Will try to do pictures.

Welcome, my wife backs the trailer , steering cable is too stiff for her to turn wheel :happy

She backs really good 90% of the time

I feel bad for you with gretchen Hitler as your dimwitted Supreme Karen dictator running amuck like a hall monitor :nono

Have fun and safe journeys :thumbsup

We will be launching next week. I've been looking for one of those fake glasses with the nose and mustache attached for when I go to the boat ramp. Our Supreme leader has now posted a hot line for people to narc on other people not obeying her rules. Soon I'm sure she will be looking into containment camps for us troublemakers. Too bad she isn't running for re-election in November. I envy all of you already on the water and enjoying life and making your own decisions.

That's exactly what I am looking for. Don't know if I can get the wife to wear one.

We launched Last Tuesday and everything went smooth. From putting the boat in the water to driving it back onto the trailer. My wife handled everything like a champion. It was hot and we put up the Bimini top, how did I ever get this old without having one of these! It was great, we anchored, had lunch and bluetoothed the blues on the radio. Now I know why all you folks enjoy this type of boating so much. This week we will concentrate more on fishing and get the hang of the trolling motor. Life is good!!
