Found my boat

#1 Post by TX0303 » Tue Jun 29, 2010 6:20 pm

Been shopping around for a used boat, fish and cruise style, and finally found one I liked. 2008 G3 Suncatcher 228 FC with a 90hp Yamaha. I wanted one with all the fishing chairs up front and a sun deck in the back and enough power to pull an adult on a tube with a few others on board. This one fits the bill. I've been tubing with the kids and cruising, but no fishing yet. Only down side, I'm almost out of storage already.

Congratulations on the new boat. Nice looking rig. I actually came very close to buying a G3 208 with a 90 yammy. I really loved the boat and it was either going to be that boat or a bennington 20 SFi. Ended up going with the benny simply because the g3 dealer was 75 miles away, and the benny dealer is across town. Had the G3 dealer been here in town it would have been a much tougher decision. Did you end up with carpet or Vinyl... I've got vinyl on mine and absolutely love it, cleans up in no time, and really is a great way to go if your going to spend anytime fishing in it. By the way, from looking at your pic, looks like one of your crew is wearing a frown.... what's up with that.. brand new boat.... Time to PARTY....... Enjoy the toon my friend.... great looking rig.

I bought the boat used from a member of the armed forces who got re-assigned and only had the boat 4 months. It has the vinyl flooring. I was concerned that it might get hot on the feet in the sun but it has not been bad. It will get a little warm but you can still walk on it in bare feet.
My kids were watching a girl at the dock making a scene cause she could not get her PWC started because she forgot the safety clip and the wind was pushing her away. She was hollering at her dad on the shore who was searching thru his pockets for the clip :lol3
I got them to smile later!

I figured it was quit clicking and get the engine ticking look, didn't know it wasn't yours they were mad at, I seen with little less talk and a lot more action the smiles came back.

Very nice. Similar layout to mine. What is the length? Where are you from (what lake do you use?)

I know what you mean (I have 4 fishing chairs as well, 2 in front 2 in back). What I did was bought three white marine coolers with the cushions on top, one big one that goes behind the drivers seat, and two up front. We use one for drinks on the port, one on stbrd for snacks and the one behind the drivers seat is for people to put their dry stuff in (clothes, purses, flip flops, towels ski ropes, etc). We also use that big cooler for fish if we are bringing back a load...funny, people always wonder why their clothes, purses, towels and flip flops always have a faint smell of fish to them! :donno
