New to the group, enjoy some pics of boats and fish!

#1 Post by texaspontoon » Tue Jul 13, 2010 6:35 am

I joined a couple of days ago, but just learned how to post some pics. Thought you might enjoy a few of my favorite memories made with the boat so far (Bought the boat brand new in June 2009, I put 200 hours on the motor already!).

There are a couple taken the day my daughter and I picked the boat up from the dealer.

The rest are pictures of family, friends, fish and the like. Hope you enjoy them.

Question: Ever try and fit your large and heavy friend through the side door when he is being pulled up your side ladder after jumping in the lake? Well that was nothing compared to trying to pull this stingray through the side door while avoiding the stinger tail! It took us 1.5 hours to get him to the surface, and 3 men to pull it through the side door with a boat hook and Gaff. (Remember, one killed the great crocidile hunter Steve Irwin, God rest his sould)! :P

P.S. Don't ever let the rain ruin your day...put on a swim suit and grin and bear it! (unless the temp is below 80 degrees) :lol3

This is why we bought the boat! To make memories!

Welcome - I am new here too.

Great pictures! I'm looking to getting educated on tunes before we get one. Looking for a fishing setup - yours looks pretty effective and will definitely work into my planning. Thanks for posting them and keep them coming!

Have a great day.

Actually it is quite amazing how it does. Obviously when it is flat calm like a lake you would never know the difference, but I have gotten into some 3' 4' seas, and you just have to take it slow and try not burry the bow. I have done it a few times, and it shoots a wall of water about 10' straight up, and it lands all over the boat! But you know what, it just washes off the flat deck like it never happened so in many ways I feel safer than I would in a bath tub boat!

When you have an inboard engine inside a bath tub, you are just asking for trouble. All it takes is for a sea water cool hose to break and your bilge is full of water.

Or if you are taking waves over the bow in a bathtub boat, you better have a great bilge pump. (not the case with a flat deck pontoon!)

I would love to take you out sometime if you ever come to Houston/Galveston TX

Tell me about where you like to boat?

Thanks, and By the way, I agree, Piss on Winter. I used to live in Anchorage, AK and the boating season was VERY short! Tell me what it is like where you live. How far is the lake that you go to?
