Just a Friendly Hello

#1 Post by Stinger » Thu Sep 30, 2010 7:22 am

I just want to say hello to everyone Looks like a nice site to get a lot of info.
We just bought a 2011 Sylvan 8522 Mirage Cruise with a 115 Yamaha out back.
The sad part is since we live in the Northeast boating season is done for most. So we get to dream about next season and can't wait. :drool But there are some things we want to do to it before it hits the water anyways. As soon as I figure to post some pic I will send some on.

Sure rub it in :alright this is why the dealer still has toon until it gets rigged so no hurry for it. In the next couple years I will retire and be down south for the winters in FLA. Then we will tow it there to enjoy the warmer weather. Until then I will have to suffer the short summers here and be jelous of you down south.

Hello Ed
We get some of that weather also but we are east of Buffalo NY so we get colder here alot sooner than I like :lol3 But we have been here so many years you get use to it. Pretty soon the old bones just want the warm weather and as the years pass the winters are longer and longer they suck LOL. I need to retire sooner than later but thats how the story goes

HandymanHerb Funny you bring that up I just got some last night to do on my tracker bass boat. I am going to do the high polish first and then top it off with the Sharkhide protector. I figure that will be the test before I try it on the Pontoon. So far I love the Polished shine so far but alot of buffing to get it to look like that. I will post some pics even though its not a Pontoon

Yep Fla an Ga an a few of the other southeast states are growing with NY's retired folks. Now I here from some that they don't want to go south of the bug line, which according to what I have heard is south of Macon Ga or about mid state in Ga. Heck an least the NY folks bring their money so that's good. About the only downside is they are putting some mega houses on the lake which has been pushing up my property tax, since the county wants to get as much of that money as they can. Ya'll come on down the water is fine.

Hello dockholiday,

You are right about the Mega houses they are building we have water front property year round and others that are buying up small places are knocking them down to build mega places. Our place is approx 1400sft with taxes at almost $15,000 a year and that is very cheap for most places on the water in upstate LOL Some of them pay more taxes than what they bought the place for go figure. That is why we are looking to go south for the winter and might even stay who knows

Watched the same on our lake. Bought the lake property in 1980 an it wasn't but me a few other boaters. The road to our subdivision was a rough dirt road at that time with most houses that were there were only about 1400sq/ft an not many of those. The house going up across from me in Reynolds Plantation is three story an heard it has two elevators. Been two or three houses bought an bulldozed down in our subdivision. Guess it is good, but the taxes just keep going up along with the lake property. Who would have ever thought our sleepy little country town would have ever had houses like now. Guess the secret is golf. If you build it they will come. Still liked it better before the rich folks showed up, some are nice an some are snobs.
