Hello

#1 Post by Toonfisher » Mon Oct 18, 2010 2:40 pm

About the third time i've tried this post. Keep gettin kicked off. Damn dial up anyway. Hello everyone. Name's Joel from central Ks. We bought her a couple of months ago. As you can (hopefully you can see she needs ALOT of work. But thats ok because so do I). She's been sitting for awhile so i went through the carb. and seem to have her running pretty well. But i seem to have a vibration problem. Shaft is straight. RPM's look good. any suggestions?

You have to turn off the leaf blower to get rid of the vibration. :lol3 :lol3 :lol3 sorry I just can't help it. Welcome to the group and someone will chime in with their 2cents.

Welcome ! Vibration in gear or out of gear ? That would help further diagnose your problem.

Welcome to the group, you will be glad you joined, just post lots of pictures of your adventures. One of the things I would be curious to know is how is your fuel supply? Have you purged your tank of old fuel and started with a clean fuel filters, and a good solid battery and electrical system! Make sure all of your lights, horn, gagues, etc work, then start chipping away at the cosmetic stuff.

Good luck to you, and welcome!

Good morning, Vibration isn't noticable at idle, cotiuously worsens thru rpm range. New fuel, replaced main line and primer bulb, rebuilt carb. Filter lookes great.(did not replace). New batt. all electronics in good condition aside from replacing nav light bulbs. The leaf blower doubles as a jet propulsion kicker motor, lake's pretty shallow out here. :nana

Check the play on the prop shaft and the prop. You might have prop out of balance.

I did that, prop shaft is straight. Prop itself is not bent but does have some cavitation marks. The anodes need replaced also. I believe it was a rental that stayed moored and was never maintained well. Lots of crap on logs. I am scraping them down now.
Thanks

once you get the logs cleaned up try again but i think its the prop just my thoughts have you change plugs and things like that compression check but still when its in the water rev up the motor see if it still vibrates one way to start to figure out were the vibration is use the warm up lever to do this but dont over rev if its sluggish then check fuel lines filter water seperator is this new gas all sorts of thing to check

Thanks everyone for the ideas. It will be spring now before i get the boat to the lake to check out the vibration and give more info. Ive not tried it out of gear so i can't answer that yet. Today was a great day to be out there just didnt have the time. Thanks again.
