Any Stone Crabbers??

The Florida Stone Crab season started on Oct. 15th and there are crab pots everywhere. I almost ran over one last weekend.

Been thinking about buying a crab trap to test my luck. Has anyone tried catching these suckers? Any tips? I know you can only take one of their claws, but beyond this I don't know much.

Ron,

back in the day I worked in the meat and seafood dept. Stone claws are the best! Sorry ED! Make sure you know which side claw to take off. They do right one year and left the next. That way they always have a claw to defend themselves.

My wife likes the Maryland crabs too. She went to school there. I like Alaskan crabs, but I don't think my boat would last to long in the Bearing Sea.
