I have been hearing way too many complaints about Lowrance units, quality and customer service!

I have also heard alot of troubles with the Lawrance units. I'm saving now for a Humminbird 597. I really want the gps model. Good luck with whatever you decide. Merry Christmas.

Don't buy the lorrance my by buddy bought one last year or the year before the seal for the screen was bad talk about a nightmare! There cs sucks they were horrible to deal with after year of fighting with them they finally ran the serial number they turns out, had they done that in the beginning they would have done it an saved the headache! I used to run them in the 90's there cs was great but now I am a hummingbird man! Also I wouldn't buy it on ebay for what u save buy it from someone who might help u I have heard of people selling them as new an they were reman's. My 2 cents.

I wouldn't have a Lowrance if someone gave it to me. As someone else said, their customer service sucks.
I have two Garmin's, one on my trolling set-up on my bass boat and the other as a depth finder on the Bennington. The one on the Charger is a 2006 model and never had one day's trouble with it and I don't take very good care of it.
Interestingly, the Lowrance mounted on the helm of the bass boat has worked okay, but if it goes south, I'll replace it with a Garmin in a heartbeat.
Merry Christmas everyone!

I've had Lowrance (not that model) and it was OK. That was a few years ago.
I've heard much about the bad CS at Lowrance but can't vouch personally for it or not.

Presently I have a Garmin (545S) and a Humminbird (998C SI). I like the GPS features of the Garmin better. The Humminbird side scan and fishfinder features are the bomb. Their CS is excellent ( I have had to use their CS for a warranty item). The unit works excellent on my tripletoon for sidescan, downscan, or fish finding. There are limitations on the sidescan for working at higher speed but that is true of any of the sidescan units. The depth finding function seems to work at any speed on my boat. I love my Humminbird. :)
