Fishing Contest?

#1 Post by PlaynDoc » Thu Feb 02, 2012 7:12 pm

RiverLiver proposed this in 2006... I 'copied/pasted' his posting, and made a couple changes... The conversation of the posting went way off topic, so if we're going to do this, keep the postings to topic.

Anyone up for it? All you've got to do is read below and start posting...

How about it? An online fishing contest... Starts today. Ends October 31, 2012.

RULES:

1. YOU catch the fish. Not the one your dad caught, etc.
2. Take its picture. If there's no picture posted, it doesn't count. Pictures with ruler beside fish are best, but we'll take your word for it - except for a few of you, you know who you are.
3. Post Picture, length, weight, and type of fish on this topic thread, along with state record.
4. Do the math, and post your score.
5. Best fish at cutoff date wins.
6. YOU get to do the research to find what type fish you caught, and the state record in which it was caught.

"Best Fish" is judged as follows:
1. All species of fish are allowed.
2. Your fish will be compared to the record holding fish of the same state from which the fish is caught.
3. Your score is the percentile between the 2 fish. Highest percentile on any given fish wins.

Prize: Bragging rights (and maybe a specially designed "champion" avatar or something).

For those of you who are math challenged, like me, here is the formula.:

(YOUR CATCH WEIGHT /STATE RECORD) X 100 = SCORE

Example:

Largemouth Bass

Riverlivers Catch: 7.20
Michigan State Record: 11.94

Score: 60.3
