Check out this guy.

These shots are spectacular!

This is truly incredible video. I can 't believe this Osprey got 5-6 fish at a time, then got a flounder under 3 ' of water, and then made off with what looks to be a 5+ lb. steelhead.
I've never seen a bird shake water off like a dog does - wouldn't want to get in the way of him when he's got his eyes locked and his talons in the "load" position!
There are 3 sequences in this one video:
1st sequence he catches half a dozen fish in one strike.
2nd sequence he plunges talons into deep water right to the bottom to grab his prey.
3rd sequence he captures a big fish that looks as if it weighs more than the bird!

We had 2 Osprey around our camp/dock this summer, we would watch them every weekend. They are pretty awesome!

They would perch for hours in the highest tree accross the river from us, then in a matter of seconds, dive straight down and into the water and come up with fish and fly away with them. Only to return in minutes and perch right back up in the same tree. It was certainly fun to watch!

Remind me not to take my year old grandchildren up there. I'd hate to lose one to an osprey.

We have a bunch of eagles that spend the winter on our river/lake. We mostly see them calmly sitting around in trees on the edge of the river--watching for fish. They'll often be fearlessly sitting in the middle of a small town next to a grocery store/drive in market.

I have a big blue heron sitting on my boathouse roof eyeballing the water for fish. It especially makes me mad when he poops on the roof. Some people get'em with shotguns.

They used a tall pine on my property line to hunt from. Any time I saw them go after one they never came back empty handed. The last clip showed them turning the fish in the direction they were flying. I saw that several times in the spring. Most were yearling bass right off my sea wall. Didn't see them much from mid summer on. If they come back in the spring, I just hope they don't dive bomb my blue birds. I put up 3 boxes and had bluebirds in all of them.

Joy just sent me that vid which I had not seen. I was going to post it here but see it is here already. Pretty amazing birds. We have them nearly all year at Lake Conroe along with the wintering Bald Eagles. We see the Eagles from the house all the time fly over but only spot the Osprey when crossing the 1097 bridge, over on the south end of the lake and when out on the boat. One of my customers in Walden has one that brings the catch to the top of an old Pine snag and drops all the remnants in her back yard. I had no idea they could dive under water that deep to snag prey.
