Anyone get new fishing gear this year?

#1 Post by Ron Burgundy » Sun Mar 17, 2013 6:00 am

Fishing should be heating up soon. Here are a few things i've picked up. Anybody else get some new tackle?

Can't forget new leads on fishing holes.

LOL--- Seem's like I'm always adding to my fishing equipment Ron.
Can't get pics for a while, I'm one week into a total knee replacement, but I've added a couple of new Abu 6500's to a couple of new Pro Angler rods, A new 77 inch drift sock that really helped (http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas- ... l+Products)
and too many other things.
I often wonder if Jimmy really did crack corn, and why should I care?

I think I need to invesg in one of those drift socks, or at least the redneck version...5 gallon paint bucket with holes in it. I've been thinking about it for a while.

I had used smaller drift socks on my previous boat but the two I had would not slow the boat down in good winds.
That one really does the job.
Drifting is my favorite way to fish on most days.

Not sure if it counts, but I ordered a couple of cast nets made specifically for shrimping. Guy named Ed Shumaker hand makes them in the Ormand beach area. Should have them next week. Best thing is he is making them in University of Florida colors :nana :nana :nana

Hell yea that counts. I got a cast net last year. I'm still trying to perfect the throw. Mine is designed to catch 3-4 in pilchards for use as bait.

Just picked up 2 Shimano Baitcaster 8000 reels with 7 ft ugly sticks. Going to get serious about offshore fishing this summer. Would like to bottom fish for grouper, snapper etc , but also fish for mahi-mahi and sails

I hardly have used what I bought last year, but one of my sons gave me some jigs for Father's Day made by the father of a friend who makes and sells them. A couple of stand-up jigs and a couple of swim jigs, along with some rattle-type trailers. I plan to try them out this week and if they produce I will be back here with fantastic stories of fabulous large mouths.

I just started fishing for the first time in my life. Am doing a lot of fishing but d*#% little catching! Got a bait casting reel, a new spinning (?) reel, but my best results so far have been with my little Zebco. I gotta figure how how to catch fish!!! :prayer

Let me know how you do. I've been doing a ton of research on grouper\snapper. I've piled up some promising numbers.
