Going out on the water again next weekend. I want to troll but I don't know how. Tipps and advice? Bait? Speed? Do I need stronger test line than I normally use? (6-8 or 8-10 is my normal set up)

I fish my whole life just never trolled. I want to catch one on the move so bad.
Thanks.

Best rail mounted rod holder?

Here's how I troll... <fishing, that is>

I have 3 pole holders... each side of boat, and on rear....

I use minimum of 17lb line. Usually use 20lb. This really helps when you hook a larger fish, and have not only their fight force on the line, but the boat moving forward... Lighter lines have broken more than once.

When I use 'medium diver' lures, about 4-6" each... I run about 3.0-3.5 mph...

When I use 12" rubber/plastic worms, I run about 1.5-2.0 mph...

Each time, I let out each line all the way, then give it about 5-6 spins, then set the drag to release easily....

Sit down, crack open your favorite cold beverage...

Somehow, a combination of favorite beverages, and Credence Clearwater Revival, seems to attract hits on the lines!

I agree with PlaynDoc. It's a good plan. If cracking open your drink doesn't trigger the bite, try hitting the potty. The potty works almost every time. I'm hearing reports that the Strippers are moving up now....

Sorry for resurrecting an old post but I just bought my Toon last Saturday Jan 24th and thought I’d share my experience in Striper trolling which I’ve been doing for 7-8 yrs in the Sacramento Delta in my 22’ C-Hawk Pilothouse.
The method will not change between the Pilothouse and the Toon. My rod is a7' medium action with a Daiwa SG 17LCA line counter filled with 330# Power Pro braid line.
I use Yozuri or Broke Back Rebel (BBR) both shallow and deep divers (DD). With the DD I'll be in 14'-15' of water and the lure will dive 12’, my line is 110’ back at 2.5-3.5 mph. The shallow diver I'll troll in 8'-9' of water because the lure will drive 6’ and my line is back 130’ at 4.5-5.5mph. A red body with a white head attracts more hits for me but if no action, I'll switch to other color combo until I start getting hits then I'll stick with that color for the rest of the day.
I use a Folbe rod holder and keep my rod in it until I get a hit, and then I’ll turn my boat 90 degrees towards the center of the channel and place the motor in neutral. Feels great when 12# Striper hits your lure; however, I think it’ll be a greater feeling when a 12#’er hits while trolling on the Toon.
