Camping & Fishing

#1 Post by mike » Fri May 12, 2006 6:37 am

I am making my maiden fishing trip in the pontoon boat this weekend... Me and my cousing are headed down to CJ Strike to hopefully catch some bass and trout! Pics will be posted of anything that we catch... This place also has 8' stergeon so if I can land one of those bad boys I will be in buisness to win the fishing contest!

Well, the trip went well and I caught both a hangover and a sunburn! I only managed to catch one small perch... :(

Overall, it was a blast... My boat was flawless and I even got my tach working right while out on the water! My cousin and I ended up getting bored with fishing and not catching so decided to try pulling each other on the tube... Bad idea it turns out, we got busted by the sheriff and got a ticket for $82 for not having a spotter!

Overall, the travel trailer worked perfect, my new generator allowed the AC to keep things cool and way too many beers were drank around the fire which is the only way to end a nice day on the water!

Next step, figure out how to catch the bass & trout that are supposed to be all over CJ Strike res.

Now I cant wait for the next outing!

I forgot to take a camera so no pictures...

Thanks guys...

I freakin love this generator... VERY queit, very well built... It has electric start and just purrs... I left it in the back of my truck and I am pretty sure I could have ran it all night without bothering too many people...

I have heard that they are about to go up in price so if you are gonna get one do it soon!

I am now planning the next trip... Damn these boats are just perfect, I felt really bad for all the people in little skiffs sweating in the sun and not able to move around!

Howdy Mike. I know that this reply is late but I just joined up. We go to CJ Strike often. The fishing can be fantastic. We tend to go June thru October. This past Sept caught dozens of crappie while trolling Rapalas. Caught 100's of Yellow Perch underneath the powerline in the narrows on worms and maggots. Slow trolling while out watching the sun go down, drink in hand, caught a 3 1/2 lb Smallmouth. CJ is our favorite lake close to our place in ID. During the summer it's always fun to drink and dance to live music at the bar at Black Sands Marina/Bar. The only downer are the dust storms the scream across the lake from the late summer thunder storms. We have seen some doozies out there. Take care, Craig
