cover used for camping?

#1 Post by Vaughn » Fri Jun 12, 2009 7:40 am

Anyone ever use the canvas cover for camping? Our has an enclosure that fits around the hard top so you can still stand up in it when it is attached. It goes all the way to the front so that is useable space as well. I'm thinking it would work just like a tent, course there are no windows, but that might could be modified.

This is a new adventure for us. We've had campers for the last 17 years and have a camper on the lake, but we are thinking of letting that go in Dec since we'd kinda like to go where our grown kids are busy living and working too!

The only way to camp IMO !

You'll have to get some ventilation for your cover or It'll be miserable for you. I love to sleep on my toon, drop anchor pretty much anywhere but keep in mind that it's a little hard to sleep if the waters choppy, so find a place out of the wind if you can.

Have fun with it!!

We use our cover every weekend we are at the lake. Have slept as many as 8 on the boat. Really cozy. We love it; however, it is not completely waterproof. You will still get drips in at the bimini zipper joints. Still, would not be without it since our lake is an hour away and it's convenient to just put it up and stay there.

Have you tried some of the water resistance spray on the zippers, I know I have to do my rain coat a few times a year if I'm in the rain a lot or it will soak through

Rain doesn't seem to be a factor here anymore.

Yea the drainage ditch running through the park beside me all I usually see is 5 foot of grass bank from the front door , yesterday the water was even with the top of the ditch and it's 25 feet wide, so were getting our whole years rain in a month.

The north flowing river the St John's that it connects to is flooded from all the water down south.

If you didn't know, the Kissimmee river drains our water to the south to Miami and then if they get to much water the St John's brings it up to Jacksonville where it dumps into the sea.

So we have the water going both ways in the Orlando area, figgures

Central Tx. We haven't seen measurable rain in over a month and it's been at or close to 100 degrees for the past two weeks. Lakes around here are dropping fast!
