WOW, Mike that was fast.

Well I made a suggestion to Mike earlier today, that since boating and
camping go hand in hand together, that he add camping to the topic board, and quite frankly
he was so fast he caught me off guard.

So I guess the first question should be. How many of you camp? On your
boat? In a tent? In a camper? In a cabin?

I, like I'm sure many of you, have camped for many years, and I hope
this section can bring together an abundance of knowledge that everyone
can benefit from.

We used to go camping at Ute Lake before we got the boat. But I never
really enjoyed it. Sit on the bank all day, watching other people with
boats. So I had made it one of my goals to get a pontoon boat. It's
funny, I never had any thought other than a pontoon.

We do the tent thing.

I haven't done it yet but will do it soon before it get to hot down here, I
been checking on small tents that can be set up on the deck complete
with bed that you can put away during the day.

The St John's goes all the way to Jacksonville, takes three hours to drive
at 70 MPH bet it would be a long run at 15 MPH and the river is not as
straight as the roads, but it would be fun in the middle of the week to get
out and see the real Florida, wildlife and all.

Oh good, my Google spell check works here too!

I know what you mean FishnBilly, we go boating a lot without camping,
but never go camping without the boat. When we go camping I have to
have something to do, either boating, or fishing, or cooking or I get
bored. I love cooking over an open fire with Dutch ovens.

Yea TT, gotta have that AC for them hot summer nights.

Here's a pic of my new (to me) camper.

TT, It’s a pop up. The top lifts up about 18 inches or so. What's above the
cab is a big bed just like any other slide in camper. I like the low profile
for fuel economy.
It has all the amenities. I haven't had it out yet, but I know I'm going to
love it. When the weather gets better, I'll get some inside pix.

With a name like Toontroller, you gotta be a fisherman. What do ya troll
for? We do a lot of Striper, Wiper, and Walleye trolling.

Sorry Backlash I thought MIke had posted the camper,
I wondered if that was a pop-up but yours is the first one
I have seen like that thats really cool idea.

As for your question we troll for sandbass and hybrid stripers.
once in a blue moon we get a true stiper but not very often.
Started out in a 17' bass boat but so many kids from church
wanted to go we needed something bigger so I found this little
bass buggy that I can take 2-3 extra kids along with my 2
daughters and as a plus my wife who would never go fishing
loved riding the toon so it is a great fit for us.

Now I still have bass boat I need to sell and already wanting
2-3 feet more of toon but for now it's a great fishing platform
and super for mom and I to go on a boat date :D

Hey what are Wipers? same as what we call hybrids?

Yea the Wipers are hybrids, what you call sand bass down there,
we call white bass here. Hybrids are a cross between a white
bass & striped bass = wiper. We catch a lot of sand/white bass
while Walleye fishn. Its gettn about that time of year again, if the weather will cooperate.

I think our group enjoys camping as much as boating.
We camp at Heimerman Point at Cheney State park
or Blue Stem Point at ElDorado State Park in kansas.
We also go to Table Rock, Lake Texhoma and several
other lakes when we want to try something different

Acually this will be our 1st time going to Texhoma and a bunch of us got
Motel rooms. We got a group discount. I should have left Texhoma out of the list since we
will not be camping there.
