I have never tried it, but it sounds fun! I have caught a 58lb king salmon on the Kenai River back in the day, that was a great fight!

I do in the Upper Chesapeake, keep the smaller but legal ones for dinner and let the big ones go.

Catfishing is all I do. Grew up using trott lines but they are a little difficult to run from a pontoon boat. We started jug/ fun noodle fishing this year. You can get just as many hooks in the water as a trott line but easier to work from a toon.

It really does help to have a front porch on your toon when doing the trot line thing. A trolling motor, grab/push pole and my extra long paddle really get a work out too.

I do a good bit of catfishing on the rivers in Louisiana. We mostly jug/noodle them from the toon, it's pretty easy when you have lots of room to menuever. On a good day we can put 200-300# of fish on the boat.

We also do a lot of saltwater fishing with the toon, it handles much better than I expected in the South LA bays and marshes.

I catfish as much as I can, however not having a boat is a problem. Personal best was a 42 pound flathead when I was 16.

I used to noodle and I still run a trot line from time to time. I've had several in the 40lb-50lb range. If you have ever seen "Okie Noodlin" you'll know what I am talking about. And, yes the majority of the population in Southeastern Oklahoma is well represented by the people in that movie :drink4
