I am jealous, I spent a few days on Lake Isabella, CA I did catch alot, over 75 bass the biggest was a 12" (lake limit 15") some wouldn't even make a sardine, heck the lure was that big. :coffee

Went this morning and mustered up 9 fish total. I'm attaching a pic of a little Spot that I got. I enjoy fishing from my toon, minus the wind...

I used to bass fish a lot. Fished the famous Lake Fork often in it's early days. I got out of fishing for a few years. And, when I started again a couple of years ago, I realized I've gotten too old, fat, and lazy to stand on the front of a bass boat all day chunking lures.

Nowadays, I've gotten into fishing for crappie, white bass, and hybrid stripers. It's much more relaxing and enjoyable. Plus, I'm putting meat on the table. Never cared for eating black bass much.

I have always wanted to fish for smallmouth, and walleye. Just found out that Broken Bow reservoir in southeastern Oklahoma has both. So, planning a camping/fishing trip in the fall.

We caught some nice white bass a couple of weekends ago. We were trolling using rapala lures. None of them were huge but they were fun to catch.

I was into bass fishing in south fl. but haven't got set up now that I've moved to east central fl. I've got several great bass lakes within an hour or less drive of my house and a few right down the street.I will be renovating my 17' alumacraft as soon as I finish the "weekender".

I've found that fishing along shoreline/docks/etc in a pontoon without a trolling motor is a pain more than fun - especially if there's any wind.... unless you have someone to control the boat. Otherwise, you spend so much time using the motor/steering wheel to keep the boat correct..... takes away from casting time....

Perhaps one day I'll break down and spend the $1200.00 or so to get the right trolling motor, 2 more batteries, and charger system that I want....

In the meantime, I've started a few weeks ago, just trolling... Get a medium diving lure, sometimes hook a white tail/trailer to it, and let the line out behind the boat - almost all the line from the lure.... and cruise along, about 2.5mph gps...

The bass love it... In the three times I've had opportunity to go out, we've caught at least 10 bass this way. I even got the two bass on one lure doing this. (See the posting 'Almost as good as 2 girls one cup).

We generally catch and release, but my 4 yr old daughter keeps saying she wants me to bring them home so she can eat them!

This Saturday, if the weather is good, I'm going to take her with me, her first time fishing.... We'll see her freak out with happiness as she reels in a fish! I've got her practicing in the yard on how to reel in the line - without dropping the pole into the water... Maybe if I get her hooked on fishing <pardon the pun> then my wife will be more free in 'approving' the trolling motor purchase! I'll just teach Madison to say, "Mom, I will fish better if Dad gets a trolling motor"!

As they say, a bad time fishing is better than a good day at work... It is so true.

The girl and I were cruzin the new toon here (Lake Havasu):

....earlier in the day and a big one jumped all over her Repalla. She gets a little excited and forget to keep tension on the rod, but she finally gets the fish to the boat and I'm going for the net and as the fish gets to within netting distance she points the pole almost directly at the fish as I'm leaning over and the damn 4-6 lb bass spits the lure literally back into the boat.

She made herself feel good telling me that I'da let it go anyways. :|

nice smallies. our lake has improved its smallie population bigtime to the point it's not uncommon to go out and catch multiple 20 plus inch small mouth in one day. that's pretty big for the midwest...and to catch more than one a day is pretty good. best fight per inch. my cousin caught a big one this summer. we always release smallies to help the trophies grow... I told him "you better hold that thing tight cuz they are strong!!!!! ...and he proceeded to drop it about to 10 times!!! didn't believe me! :lol3
