the 1 that got away

#1 Post by ROLAND » Sat Mar 19, 2011 2:20 am

Friends... earlier today I was waiting for some out of town relatives to arrive when they called and said they were running later than expected and wouldn't be in town for another couple of hours... so I decided to spend about an hour of that time sitting on the bank of a local lake ( too much trouble to take the toon out for just one hour or so ) and trying out a new rattle trap bass lure I had... paid 8 or 9 bucks for this thing... 30 minutes goes by and nothing.. zilch, nada... then just as I'm about to call it a night, something hit that lure and ran with it... rod was doubled over, drag was screaming... everyone along the bank stopped to watch... only lasted about 20 seconds or so but all of a sudden he was gone... snapped my 10lb test line...sure wish I could have gotten a look at him... never hooked a fish that felt that strong before... damn that was a fun 20 second ride....

Show how long it's been since buying lures. Think I paid 3 or 4 bucks for my rattle traps. Great lure. Caught my biggest largemouth on one from my dock. First thought I was hung, she stopped that thing cold. Didn't realize I had a fish until the line started moving sideways.
She weighed seven pounds or so. Only one I have mounted.

That's a nice one Doc. The biggest one I ever got was 25 inches. I never weighed it because I didn't have any scales. I guess it weighed around 6 1/2 lbs. I do have pictures though.

Man, I don't what the problem was... me and the wife took the toon out twice in the past week and tried several of our favorite fishing spots on caddo lake.... barely caught any fish... all together 7 or 8 bream ( brim ) and one stripper... only 2 big enough to keep... long days, very few fish, but sooooooo damn nice to be back out on the lake!

Brandon with the Mac I'm on I don't have a scanner. I have an old Dell with a "All in one" I'll fire it up soon and see if I can get on the forum from it. If I can I'll post some Pictures. I have three or four pictures I think.
