I was actually thinking about around the #9 area -- they have that great sandbar just outside of the cove that has a steep drop-off. Really makes it great when beaching -- powerload all you want :nana

We are around Arrowhead so we have to deal with the low water areas.

You must be talking about Sissy beach. Seems like that was the place to be towards the end of last summer.

That would be the location -- although I guess I've never heard it called that before. The Cut is just too far for us from Arrowhead and we found that sandbar by accident one day around #9. But we also hit a sandbar a little south of there -- between 69, 9 and 9A bridges.

We tried to get on the beach at #9 over Labor Day -- but we didn't get out there till noon and there wasn't a single spot up on the beach to pull our boat in. So we know next time to get out there early.

Not sure where the name came from or if it's widely accepted. Also heard it called the new cut.

As far as making the trip, I'd think you'd be an expert at dodging stumps and sandbars if you're in Arrowhead. That can be one sticky channel when the water is low. I love Area 51 marina and if they sold gas I'd hang out there a lot more often.

FWIW, we've had some rain, but the lake still looks pretty low. I'd guess it at about 3+ ft. down. We need for the City to get a bunch of rain out west for it to come up. Rumor is that the Corps have the dam at full throttle anyway to keep the lake low as they repair/replace the local bridges. As of right now I still wouldn't want to run around too much with a stainless prop, but rain's in the forecast so hopefully things will improve shortly.

Oh yeah, lots of stumps and sandbars in our course from Arrowhead. The few channel markers weren't much help last summer. With the water so low the markers could be several yards one way or the other, depending on the direction of the wind/current that day. This is also why we are going to stay with an Alumnimum prop instead of going to a SS prop.

We had gone by Area 51 marina several times during the day last summer and never saw anybody around there. Then one of our neighbors told us how "hopping" it is Saturday night so we went there with him. It was a really nice place with the outside bar. Although they seriously need some lights and railings on the way to the bathrooms -- one wrong step and you'll find yourself in the water in one of the slips. We'll probably be spending more time there in the evenings this summer -- much safer trip by road back our place since we don't have to get on the highway.

That would make perfect sense for that name. I know we'll be spending more time there as well since its closer.

So where do you spend most of your time on Eufaula?

We'll have to try and get together this summer. Just look for the pontoon boat with the only yellow lab that doesn't like water -- you'll usually find him laying on the front of the boat (or back under the bimini if its too hot). But that's why we like that beach --I can get far enough up on the beach so there isn't any water in front of the boat -- otherwise, I have to lift our lab off the boat and set him on dry ground. If there is a little water in front of the boat, he'll try and leap over it. :donno :donno

When I've got the family with me, I'm usually at the north end of the lake on North 40 beach (beach on the north side of Interstate 40). We also like Rolling Oaks. I've got a lot of friends that live on that end of the lake and it's typically more locals and less "city folk". The north side of I-40 is a good spot to tube, ski, & wakeboard and is often out of the wind when a lot of places aren't. We still have our share of idiots on jet skis though :hairpull :ak47 :ak47 :ak47.

I have never been that far north on the lake. Might have to trailer up that direction some time.

I don't think we have come up with any dates yet. We only have a set of dates that won't work for Loyd (Mid July to August). I was thinking maybe sometime in early June. Of course with the lake level up now, I'm not sure if Sissy Beach is even there right now. The lake has really come up in the past 2 weeks. The sandbar we use to go to between Hwy 69 and 9A is also underwater now. But once the temps start climbing, I'm sure the water levels will go back to normal.

So, let's start tossing some dates out there and see if any of them stick.

First toss.... June 8th & 9th. How does that date work for everyone?

Dang it. My 7 yr. old baseball team has the Post Season tournament that weekend I think.

FWIW: I believe that June 8th is the 1st poker run of the season.
