We're heading to FLA this December. Staying on Longboat Key. How is the weather there that time of year?

The wife asked if we'd even be able to hang at the beach. (?)

Thats my hometown, MANY years I can recall swimming at the beach on Christmas day. I didnt own a pair of long pants living there minus "work" or hunting clothes. Just no need...

You're going to an absolutely fabulous place. Sarasota is the "high rent" district, and Longboat Key is very nice.

Florida weather varies in the middle of the winter. There is a definite weather band running east and west of Orlando. South that is usually warm. North of that can be medium warm to downright cold. (I've seen it snowing in St. Augustine.)

It's just hit and miss. Some days are warm and some aren't around Sarasota and Tampa. Most days are warm, however. Anyway it goes, you'll enjoy where you're going.

You can have every thing from 78 to 30 degrees, maybe with all within the same week, winter time it gets warm, rains, then gets cold as hell for a few days and warms up , starts all over
