down to Mobile.

Anybody try this trip or parts of it?
Just google "the great loop" to get info from Grafton down the Mississippi then up the Ohio and into Kentucky Lake. There is only one place to get fuel between Alton and Kentucky Lake. So fuel range is very important.

I have not run the full loop (YET).A lot of it I have done is doable with a toon. There is part on the South side that is open water stretch From Dog Island, Fl. to Tampa Bay (Fl.) that I would be very nervous about. However it is doable also with the right conditions. I have run up on flats fishing boats 45 miles offshore on days when it was like a lake. I remember being anchored fishing a wreck called the Empire Mica (near 60 miles from Panama City Fl & over 20 from the closest pass) and a guy pulled up flipped his trolling motor down. He started motoring around seating on his front casting deck seat casting away. He then proceeded to ask witch direction I was going when I left because he probably only had enough gas to go another 30 to 40 more miles. :scared
Anyway the GOM does calm down enough some times that I have seen Bass Boats and Flat Bottom jon boats out fishing.
