I'm still sipping my creek water after getting mine done, it's a week job with two people shining on it, find a truck stop near you that does polishing, I had the biggest part done then it took us four days to do the rest that most people don't do, like the insides.

I would love to polish mine but due to having a heart attack I think I better let someone much younger than me to do the polishing of the logs. I'm still confused about how to go about just polishing my fence rails. I've been thinking about just painting them instead but the shine on the fence rails looks so much better. I remember reading a post from someone who have done theirs but I've not been able to locate it yet. YOURS look GREAT IMO. I might look around next week & see if there is a truck stop around that would polish mine like yours. They are very impressive.

On the rails, just use a fine grit sandpaper to clean them up, we used 330 grit to and they cleaned up quick and then clear coat them when you have them clean to add more shine and keep them that way

Thanks for the information Herb. Now then. WHAT KIND OF CLEAR did you use? It is something I can get at any of the big box stores & does it "HAVE" to be for marine use? I've learned a lot about painting my rails but have always been confused about the coatings used to keep the rails shiny. My wife tells me I'm a confused old man everyday so what else is new. :lol3 My rails are really not all that bad but if using the 330 grit sandpaper & clear coating them is all I need to I will get started on them in a couple of weeks. I don't mind doing what needs to be done if I know for sure what I need to do. I'm getting up in age but I still have a LOT of things I want to get done to my boat. Love working on it.

Oh by the way you can't get much calmer than polishing, the more drugs your on, the better, you end up working on small spots for hours, be sure you fine sand them to get you started after acid washing, the finer you can go with paper will save a lot of polishing time, we could only find 400 grit without buying a 100 of each grit we wanted.

In the years I have been dealing with pontoonstuff I NEVER knew they carried this stuff. Not sure why I didn't know it but I didn't. maybe because I wasn't seriously interested in polishing my logs until recently. Learn something NEW every day. I'll call Annette & get some ordered next week for sure. Thanks for the information.

Finally got some half way decent weather to work on getting the rest of all those 2,150,496 RUSTED aggravating screws out of the cross members today. :x :x :x I couldn't get my mini sawzall into the areas I wanted to & it vibrated too bad to cut the tops off the screw heads off so I had to break every single one of them off one at a time top & bottom BUT I got 'er done. :happy :happy :happy With that job out of the way I am ready to acid wash the cross members, transom & the logs. Then I'll install the under skinning & follow that with the pontoonstuff electrical harness as well as the plumbing for the aerated live well & any other electrical wiring I might need like speaker wires, & other items. THEN I will be ready to install the deck. My son who is going to OWN THE PONTOON when it's done, wants to put a product called Kiwi Grip on the deck in order to have a non skid surface to fish on. A good friend of his has it on his 24ft pontoon boat he uses only for fishing & he swears by it & has told us he has had on his pontoon for the past 8 yrs without any troubles at all other then a couple of minor repairs where he had dropped an anchor on it. He said he touched it up with a paint brush & you can't tell where he made the repair until he shows where it was at. So, since it's my son's money & his boat I suppose that is what is what is going to be going on the deck. Any comments would be appreciated good or bad.

Thanks......Not going to be anything fancy or to write home about but it will be functional, safe & reliable. There will be plenty of room to move around without any cramping. I told my son we HAD to have room for all the fish we are going to catch. :) I told him we might catch so many we would have to add a 3rfd log just to stay afloat. :)

Was finally able to get back on the tear down. Got all of the last remaining rusty screws out of the cross members & the old deck tape peeled off too. Need to grind down a few screw heads that broke off close to the surface & then it will be ready to acid wash the entire thing. Got the plywood almost ready to install after I put in the wiring harness & other wiring for speakers & lights. Then I'll under skin it & then put the deck down for good. Want to leave plenty of open working space to install everything. Ordered the Kiwi-Grip anti skid material & waiting on it to arrive. Once warmer weather gets here I'll have everything together to get the rebuild done & ready to go fishing.
